Lots of NRPs, inlcuding myself think the system is wrong, but that doesnt negate the moral requirment to pay maintance. Not to mention the legal requirment.
When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.

There is never a justified argument for not supporting your children, regardless of what has happened. YOU may feel that there is, but the law says otherwise.

So your daughter is off college for 11 weeks for her summer break, end of her course, waiting on new course to start possibly? She's been raised by a woman who has never worked - yet your daughter sees the light and is working a few nights in a fish and chip shop, and also doing hairdressing during her time off between courses. Well done your daughter! She has obviously seen that she wants more than a life of benefits as her mum has. However, when she goes to college - she is going to have loads of 'trade tools' to purchase, transportation, course material etc She's also a teenager, and might want to buy herself a treat now and then, not necessarily something that is NEEDED, but something that she wants. She may wish to go out with friends for an evening. Instead of scrounging off mum and dad for these 'extras', she's doing something about it herself - so congrats to your daughter. However, while she does all of this, she is still a minor and is entitled to a roof over her head, three square meals a day, and every day needs met financially.

What would you think if the PWC said 'no, you're working three nights a week, so you no longer get your bedroom, meals, clothing, hot showers' etc. That would be unreasonable to expect a 16 yr old working part time to start paying her own way 100%, and you wouldn't expect her mum to abandon her financially at this stage in her life. Just as you wouldn't expect that, you can't expect to not have to support her also.

The guy only came on here for advise not to get slated.

I would call the CSA and ask their advise but you will probably find it makes no difference to your assessment.

    I agree with Anxiousmum OP.

Get where your coming from shes an 18 yr old woman with a part time job, 'do I still pay child support for an adult' but as she is due to start a course in september I think your payments remain just until shes 19.

Would like to point out as Anxiousmum says, your daughter is doing something about getting herself the qualifications to get her into a job. Shes looked at mums life and dads life and we can see which route shes planning to take:).
  • I can see the frustration of OP, mum never worked, has 3 kids different blokes - life of riley (it would seem) but its the same old situation for people like her, one day the bubble will burst when there are no more kids to claim benefit for!

Hopefully the OP will see that it is a clear majority of board folks who are encouraging him not to begrudge the little he is now doing for his daughter.

Well said Anxious - if nothing else at least the daughter is showing she's got work ethics.

so i take it when u were stopped from providing financial support for you daughter for however many years, you put this money aside? If so then i would dip into this if you are finding it a strain to support your own daughter, who seems to have her head screwed on, think yerself lucky u aint one of many NRP's who have been hounded and harrassed by CSA! thats my rant over!

feel free to come on and slate me, this is an open forum and if you dont appreciate peoples comments (or choose just to like the positive ones) then you always have that option not to post!!
