I'll provide drinks all round
Sorry HM wine not yet on the go, you'll have to wait for that.
Painful day today again - I guess I DID overdo cooking yesterday - ho hum.
Also had a phone call from the vet, our Sugarberry's ashes are ready to bring home, so I'm commiserating with Happygal (and anyone else who's lost a pet recently).
Today I'm doing NOTHING at all - dinner is leftovers from last night (oh dear, no potatoes nor greens) and supper is the cookies I made yesterday.
Can someone PLEASE pop in and make me a coffee - the kitchen seems so far from the computer today
HUGS to you all again today,
Jo0 -
My best friends are very os and I am totally comfortable with our os ways. We share a few events each year like cider making, sloe picking, frugal suppers etc. Last year we each bought a weaner and shared the whole process.
I have other non os friends but do not discuss my way of doing things with them, I just like them for their kindness and brilliant sense of humour.
And as has been said, it's great to be in contact with so many like minded people here too! I consider myself very lucky!
doddsyWe must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.

I have done reading too!

I thought I'd bump this thread in the light of the discussion about the daily thread. It was interesting to me because of the number of people who said that they don't have many friends and regard the OS forum as a place they could meet and chat with like minded people.
I would hate for that feeling to be lost in everything that is goingon at the moment.

I have no t.v., I have 18 cats, I am vegan, I married a man 18 years younger than me, I can't walk far, in pain, ipso facto people see me as a boring old f@rt, I have no interest in "fashion", I prefer ethical shopping, I decided not to have children, AND I still smoke. Who'd want ME as a friend?
Jo
Me, I like you so farYou could tell me about vegan lifestyle and ethical shopping for a start.
In answer to the question, not really, OH has a mate who buys very expensive clobber but can't afford it at all. But dosn't realise it yet. He bought a new kettle because the other one was dirty
I think Other Halfs Sister cooks from scratch but she isn't OS at all, she can sow but dose it for pleasure not mending.
To be honest my best OS friend is OH who thinks the whole thing is wonderful and if it saves money :T its excellent.
I can't get him to think that wine making was his idea though0 -

My 2 cats are my kids (step children all now grown up and have kids of their own). I'm very non vegan. If I promise not to preach to you about your smoking, will you promise not to try and convert me from my carnivorous habits, sheepskin rug and leather shoes?
On topic: I have one OS minded best friend. We only see each other a few times a year, but it's always as if we've never been apart.
Other best friend is complete opposite and very proud of it. I love her dearly.
Have a couple of other people I woudl put in the "friend" category, none of them OS. Most people I know I would class as "acquaintances".0 -
I have one friend who is OS and we have an annual competition to see who can snaffle the greatest quantity of blackberries off common land bushes LOL I swap my blackberry jam for her blackberry vinegar, I occassionally honour her with one of my fruit pies and she nicks veg off her husbands allotment for me but the rest of my friends and family/in laws are deffo not OS they throw good money after bad on disposable surface wipes and spray on rinse off bathroom mousse and other stuff we more decerning OS'rs mock. LOL My parents have a garden full of fruit trees which they let the fruit rot on the ground, or they would if I didn't whizz round and make off with them. LOLLife's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0

I dont really have many friends, but the few I have are OS in some ways but not in others. Saying that, my dogs are my best friends apart from OH and kids, and I have met a very OS dog walker and am becoming good friends with her, she rang me up the other day and asked me if I wanted some fruit from her garden, I met her on a dog walk and struggled home with 2 huge carrier bags of damsons and plums :j she had brought her daughter along to help with the carrying. It turns out shes made loads of jam, pies etc,and frozen her apple sauce for christmas, something she does every year. My daughter thinks I'm wierd cos everything gets frozen if it doesnt get eaten up straight away, and shes so pleased I've met a like minded soul to share tips with, apart from everyone here of course.
My OH is younger than me, and the friends I've made through him arent really OS as none of them have kids, all work fulltime have more money than us, but they do seem to understand that we dont have as much money they have, so dont expect too much from us, but they all love my cooking

No - my friends are more into OK! than OS.
My SIL came round at the weekend just as I was taking a home made pizza out of the oven. She was so impressed with how clever I was etc that anyone would have thought I had split the atom rather than made a pizza.
I am not heavy OS - probably just OS Lite, but compared to everyone else I know I think I am.0 -
a young girl at work got married recently and i did her a box with stardrops, microfibre cloths, vinegar, bicarb a homemade booklet of tips for washing and cleaning, easy meals using store cupboard stuff she was chuffed to bits and has now renamed me on her mobile as "tips" lol
