I honestly cannot believe this!! how can you not know how to cook vegetables?? I suppose like many people have said, it depends a lot on how you were brought up. My mum isn't a very adventurous cook, but she taught me all the basics and I carried on from there and taught myself a bit more (with the aid of MSE:D)

Recently a colleague brought in some plums from their garden and another colleague was wondering what to do with them. I suggested a crumble...and she replied that she didn't know how to make crumble! I said it's basically like making pastry...and she had never made pastry and didn't keep flour in :eek: I've been making pastry for literally as long as I can remember and its something very basic to me, but it just showed me that not everyone is brought up the same.
