No OS friends for me either! only you guys here!:A most of my friends cant understand why I cook etc when its easier to buy it, I'm sure they all think its just because I'm skint- well it is that partly but its also because I like to know what I'm eating and as I've just turned 40:o I want to live as healthily as I can and use the money I've saved for much better things than microwave meals!;)Do what you love :happyhear0

I discovered the other week that my oldest friend is quite OS and has ambitions to become more so asoon as she has a house you can swing a cat inSorting my life out one day at a time0

My best mate from school lives just outside London. I live in the very North of north Scotland, and we haven't really seen very much of each other for the last few years.
When I was down visiting her last year, I discovered her cleaning with vinegar!! We were both delighted and amused by the fact that we both had come to the same tye of outlook yet living so far away from each other.
Other than that, my mum is quite OS, and living where I do there is a good tradition of home cooking etc - although some friends look at me decidedly oddly when they hear that I have made butter etc...0 -

I have no t.v., I have 18 cats, I am vegan, I married a man 18 years younger than me, I can't walk far, in pain, ipso facto people see me as a boring old f@rt, I have no interest in "fashion", I prefer ethical shopping, I decided not to have children, AND I still smoke. Who'd want ME as a friend?
Jo
Hi Jo
Count me in too.
You don't sound weird to me at all, just someone who is concerned about the environment and nature, and is individual enough to do their own thing and live the life they want to.You sound interesting and my type of person. By the way my OH is that much older than me. and he is my bestest friend.
None of my friends are OS but I have a very OS mum. She can Knit, sew, bake, cook, grow anything and is very creative. I just wish I had taken more notice when I was younger. But now I am consciously following OS it is surprising how many tips I have already picked up from her without realising it.My friends just think I am a bit strange when I go blackberry picking etc.

So THAT'S what I am: Different, not Weird!
Phew, you've all made my day!
I've often said that to have a good friend you must first BE one, but I don't get to meet anyone these past few years (comes with not being able to get out of the house easily).
I like to know what I'm eating too Taplady - why do vegans wear glasses? It's because they have to look at all the small print on packaging
Joannasmum - please don't let your friend swing a cat - I'll take it on if she doesn't want it. We've room for one more since our Sugarberry died last week
It's a pity we're not closer Sophiesmum - I could teach you to knit, crochet, sew, tat, etc. etc. (and play piano in your spare time). Nice to know someone else thinks their OH is their bestest friend too.
I'm off for an early night now - so HUGGLES to you all and massive thanks too. I think I may actually cheer up a little tomorrow at this rate

I have some OS friends and some not so OSstyle - I have lapses though - I do still love my chinese takeaway. I've not had any neg reactions either way - those who can't be bothered to do OS think it's great that I am and will adapt somethings if they want into their lifestyle - those who are OS don't say anything when I buy a takeaway. I think we should celebrate our differences. Somebody I don't know very well was trying to think of the name of one of my friends - she said you know the quirky one? I realised most of my friends are quirky one way or another and I think that's great. Justin138 - I wouldn't be bothered about being weird - weirds good - better than being a clone.0

I have no real non-virtual friends either
I have a couple of mums at the school who I talk to, and there is one mum who I overheard talking about rubber chicken (but she didn't call it that) otherwise I'm a loner. Mind you, Johanne thought I was nuts when I first started all this OS :rotfl:
I've been MIA over the past week or so and it's been like having some part of me amputated (spelling?). Can't wait for next week when DD goes back to school and I can start to get back to my normal routine and lots and lots of walkingCreeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0
