    Your speedo is 98% accurate!?

So to avoid getting caught all you have to do is actually get the needle to point at the speed limit on that stretch of road!?

    Madness!!

To be caught the needle will probably have to be on 32mph which means I would be doing 30.5-31mph. I just compensate by aiming to 28mph on a straight 30 run instea of aiming the needle at 30 which I did on my old cars. The roads that have the mobile cameras are the ones were 30 is actually quite safe (e.g not really built up) on the risky roads with a 30 limit it would be crinimal to actually do 30 and guess what no cameras as most people do well under 30 on those roads anyway.

I have no problem with speed cameras but I think they need to catch the speeders if you're doing 40 in a 30 then I have no sympathy. If you were doing 32 then I think its wrong if you get caught.
  • They paint them bright yellow, put them where you can see them, stick a big sign up to tell you they are there and put the locations in the internet. If you're still getting caught by them, who's fault is that?

    If you're doing 32 in a 30, you won't be prosecuted.

No on a road with a 30 limit it would not be "criminal" to do 30mph however risky you believe it to be.

You won't get caught for doing 32 in a 30, there is enough leniency built into the cameras to prevent this.

Shoplifters are comitting a real crime - depriving someone of their goods - and therefore deserve all they get.

A couple of miles over the speed limit doesn't justify the penalties handed out these days and in no way reflects the damage generally NOT caused - the two scenarios are continents apart.

You could get done for dangerous driving if you drive faster than road conditions allow then cause an accident even if your under the speed limit

    Indeed.

But you won't be prosecuted for just "a couple of miles" an hour over the speed limit.

A chum of mine with points for 33 in a 30 zone would disagree.
