Older gatsos (the traditional, 'normal' ones) and Truvelos (rear facing, with round lenses) have film which gets empty. Newer Monitrons (look a bit like a gatso but smaller, google for a picture) send the digital image to the ticketing office straight away, as do SPECS (average cams) I think.

No as I said I hav'nt been caight - this is just out of interest.

How do they know they have 'results' in them or are they checked at some routine time?

Because they don't photograph every car but only ones who exceed a detected set limit.

But how do they know on these wet film cameras how many images a snapped before collection?

U suspect all camera that have been installed in the last few will be digital. Easy well to tell would be see if the post has got a sliding mechanism for the camera head . if does then properly its a film if it doesn't then it probably digital.

Which is why the 'safety' argument simply doesn't add up.

Drivers are too busy checking their speedo, looking out for the next camera and (now) looking for the sliding head mechanism.

Revenue collection cameras is what they should be called

I just hate it and the police have been putting a lot of mobile cameras here too. What makes it worse is my speedo is 98% accurate. If it is reading 30 then according to my sat nav I am doing 29 so I need to be very careful.

I just wish I could drive safely and not get paranoid when I realised trying to get out of trouble (e.g to over take a bike) I have just reached 31mph.

    Your speedo is 98% accurate!?

So to avoid getting caught all you have to do is actually get the needle to point at the speed limit on that stretch of road!?

    Madness!!

    Blah blah blah...

If the speed limit is 30 you should be doing 30 not 35, don't try flogging this argument that people end up staring at the speedo and only glancing at the road once every few minutes because we both know that's complete rubbish. A half-second glance at the speedo is all that's required.

If you lack the ability to keep a vehicle from travelling at more than the speed limit then you have no business driving a car.

For all the "revenue collection" waffle that you spout you're still trying to justify breaking the law and complaining that people are being caught doing it.

Yeah.... And CCTV in shops just isn't fair on shoplifters.

Checked routine time, when film runs out they wont be able to take more pics but will still flash.

So yes you can get flashed and not receive a ticket as no film in it.

Not that that has happened to me :T

P.S. I did have a valid reason and got a crime number with it.

Please tell, you can't leave it there - what was the crime number related to? ;)
