I was thinking do the Gatso Roadside Cameras store the images on film/digital within the camera so that an operator has to retrieve them or are the sent electonically to the HQ?

I hav'nt been caught by one this is out of interest.

Stored in the camera as far as I know. Or in a box underneath it or something.

You're planning on blowing one up cos it flashed at you aren't you?

No as I said I hav'nt been caught - this is just out of interest.

How do they know they have 'results' in them or are they checked at some routine time?

You would say that though if you were planning on blowing up a speed camera...

Not a bad idea though :)
  • Your standard, big box on a pole gatso uses wet film same as your standard run of the mill Truvelo. Dunno about any of the others out there.
Nothing to see here, move along.

Instead of blowing it up, are you now going to wait for the person who may check the film and rob them?

Checked routine time, when film runs out they wont be able to take more pics but will still flash.

So yes you can get flashed and not receive a ticket as no film in it.

Not that that has happened to me :T

P.S. I did have a valid reason and got a crime number with it.
I all have learnt is from others on many sites.
    Seek legal help if unsure.
Dont pay Private Parking tickets - they are mere invoices.

They will also know by average how long the film takes to run out.

Ie Speed camera 1 takes on average 1 month to run out

Speed camera takes 2 months on average to run out.

The article is quite old now, but it says speed cameras in 2006 could hold 800 images before they ran out, but these were due to be changing to digital cameras which have no limit to the number of images.
