"I didn't bother to pick up the money but I've got a little bit in here," tipping out a ripped £5 note rolled into the tiniest ball possible, and a hand full of shrapnel. "That's £9 and some pence yeah, that'll do."

So now I am down about a pound and feel slightly unclean and I can't even leave her feedback really as hers is set to private.

Anyone else have any horrendous collection stories?

It really takes the mick when they underpay, I just can't understand it, whenever I've collected I've paid to the exact penny, if not more (i.e £9.99 I pay £10 and don't expect the penny change unlike some others I've met lol).

I sold my washing machine on ebay when we had a new kitchen with integrated appliances fitted. It went for about £43 and when the desperate parents of 3 children turned up to collect it they handed over £45 in notes and refused to accept any change saying they were just so glad to have got a washer after 4 days worth of children's dirty clothes piling up!

So there are some nice 'collectors' out there, it's just a case of being lucky enough to get one :)

I tend not to do too many collection only items anymore due to the paypal issue. However in the past I had someone who collected a sci fi item, then sort of pushed his way past me into my house and went through all my display cabinets saying 'how much for this'. He called a couple of times afetrwards as well and tried to persuade me to sell more things to him.

I also had a good collection again absolutely years ago. Sold a silver leather mini skirt BNWT, buyer turned up with a bodyguard expecting me to know who she was. She wanted outfits for her and her backing girls to use on stage, she did get allowed in and i sold virtually all my stock to her that I had at the time. She gave one of my (very young at the time) sons a signed photo . I never did know who she was and still don't to this day, My son lost the photo within a couple of hours, he was much more interested in Warhammer.

Not had any problems with buyers collecting stuff from me, but I once bought a 14" TV/video/dvd combo for my Old Dear as hers was on its way out. She lives over in N Wales and I'm in Leeds. The TV was in Blackburn...

So I had it all organised for the next day; I'd pick up the TV on the way (having checked the shop opening hours beforehand) and then I'd make a day of it over in Wales and take my Old Dear out.

I gets over to the shop in Blackburn and the !!!!!! is closed with a 'back in 20 mins' note on the door. No worries, I'll sit here and wait for him to come back. 30 mins comes and goes, no sign. Rings the number for the shop, just going to voicemail. An hour comes and goes, then another half hour...

By this point it was going on for 3pm and as it's another hour and a half to my Old Dear's place it wasn't worth it so had to cancel, much to her disappointment. I phones the shop up next day and asking !!!!!! was going on and he just said "oh, I just nipped out for 20 mins to buy some stock, you should've waited, I wasn't long". When I mentioned the shop hours on his listing he flipped and said that I should've checked before setting off . It was a pretty big place too, in the centre, not some back street front lounge conversion. I was proper mad with him , even more so when I did finally pick it up and get to Wales and then discover that the remote control he advertised it with was not in the box and had been lost  so I ended up taking her a useless TV until I could order a new one. He did refund me the cost of the remote after some arguments, but it was the least he could do in the circumstances.

I've only ever done 2 collections and both were really lovely; one was a treadmill and the other a range cooker. Both handed over the money straight away, were very polite etc, couldn't have gone smoother. There are some decent folk out there, if only it was the majority on ebay ...

Ha ha some of these made me laugh although not funny if on recieving end.

I sent my mum to pick up a moses basket I had one was a real bargain at £3.01 took few days for lady to get back to my mum about time but she went today to get it and literally just took £3.01 with her as was not far (but 200miles from me hence mum collecting it) and woman was insistent it was £3.70 mum tried to ring me but I didnt answer so she suggested woman check her ebay account as I was unlikely to be wrong, so off she went came back and said yeah £3.01, no apology. Mum said nice area but very strange lady.

I have sold lots of items second hand through our classified ads board on intranet at work and they turn up pay the correct money and go but have sold before on gumtree and often they try to pull a fast one oh we are £5, £10 short is that ok and I always say no it cost x then amazingly the missing £5 or £10 appears.

I went to collect some wine glasses that I'd won from a seller about 3 years ago. When getting out of the car I managed to shut my then 5 year old DD's finger in the car door. You can imagine the noise that followed.

On knocking on the sellers door I apologised for the noise and explained what had happened. 'Oh, do you want my husband to have a look at your daughter's finger? He's a doctor'. Husband proceeded to check out daughter's finger, I collected some great glasses and received some lovely feedback.

Thank you to all the nice, honest ebayers out there.
It's wouldn't have not wouldn't of, shouldn't have not shouldn't of and couldn't have not couldn't of. Geddit?

Sold a motorcycle on Ebay, buyer turned up along with 12 of his asian family members!

And all 12 would have wanted the bike for a lot cheaper than it sold for...

This has reminded me of the time we travelled 25 miles to collect a game for the kids. We'd won it quite cheap for what they normally go for at 10.00. We had to collect at the ladies work place a receptionist at a GPs. Pouring with rain 3 kids in the car one of which was baby dd who was close to feeding time. Only for DH to have to run in and come back, run in and come back again then finally come back with the game. Stoopid seller was adament that the game had sold for 16.00 and poor DH who was soaked had to keep coming back out to ask me if i was right about the price! In the end the seller got on her comp to check, why she couldn't have done this the first time DH had said 'my wife says £10' i don't know :)

I've only had good experiences collecting things in person, I bought a fridge freezer when we moved house and took my boyfriend and housemate along with me to collect - both strapping young lads ;) when we got there it was quite an old couple and the old man offered to help to carry it into the van

Another one was when we moved as well, I bought an amazing swivelling, tilting, high backed faux-leather computer chair for the grand sum of 99p. When we got there the man pointed out that a little bit of the leathery surface had worn off the back, just a tiny patch, but he seemed really anxious to point it out and said 'is it still ok?' You kind of get the feeling that he'd had bad experieces with people collecting things and then complaining about them afterwards. Like I was going to complain about a 99p chair :rotfl:
D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't important

I won a telly for 49p and felt a bit embarrassed only handing over 50p, especially when they asked if I wanted to see it working and went to get my change. Another time I went to collect a kids bike but on the way my car started overheating but I managed to make it to the house I was going to before it completely conked out. The ladies husband had a look at my car but couldn't fix it, so they let me use their computer to look up the contact details of my breakdown company, made me a lovely cuppa and let me sit in their house until they arrived. The only bad collection experience from somebody collecting from me was a freecycle item I'd offered, I was giving away a computer monitor and accessories, but they weren't happy as it wasn't an lcd flatscreen! When I have bad experiences I try and remember all the good experiences I've had.
