Worst collection ever...

  • I'm about to put a few things up for collection only, is there anything I need to look out for? I know about paypal scams etc, but is there anything else?

Think I'll have it outside waiting for them rather than them coming inside the house now.

I don't get too many people collecting, as only do light weight good as a rule, but have the occasional return buyer locally.

I've had some fab stuff from ebay though that's been delivered to me. I had a humungous sofa and chair a couple of years ago (still going strong and gorgeous). Young guy and his pal delivered it to me about 300 miles for around £20 if I remember rightly, and they fitted it all up for me too.
About a year ago, I won some ikea chairs, £10 the set of four, on for collection only. When the retired couple selling found out where I lived, they asked if they could fetch them as they love the coffee house in a garden centre a couple of miles away from me!

Maybe that's how they can afford it? Now where did I leave those very very expensive antiques?

I sold a cot bed the other day. When the buyer came to pick it up they came with their dad. Who paid me the cash & then said they would pick it up tomorrow as they only had a small car with the today????
I had lugged all the bits in from the garage & had a party at my house that afternoon so couldnt keep it there, so I ended up loading it all into my car & to deliver it to their house a few miles away!
    Then it gets stranger...
I was vaguely aware of where they lived, but was surprised when they wanted to follow me, rather then me follow them! Needless to say I got a bit lost, but made it there, only to be congratulated by the dad on my good driving skills when I got out the car!
I left the bits on the path & made a quick exit after that. Very strange!

The last collection guy was pretty much ok, turned up in an old transit van.

Which when he was about to leave, i offered him many other things out of the garden that we did not want, and they soon went, even the broken garden fence panels that we were going to take to the skip.

I guess if its free, they will take it.

On the other hand though, ive been the collector. Some of the places ive been too, doesnt make you feel like you want to leave your car, or even if the wheels on your car will still be there when you get back.

    *Update*

They left me feedback saying "A+++++++++ good ebayerrrrrrrrrrrrrr"

And today sent me a message begging me to "please leave feedback please xXx"

I am moving house tomorrow so as soon as they no longer know where I live, I will indeed leave some lovely negative feedback. Not that they would be able to find my house again, even with their satnav...:rotfl:

Which the buyer will get removed and keep the rating. Sellers can't leave negatives, not for along time now. A Positive with a negative comment will just be removed.

I think may be you need to look at the ebay rules regarding FB. Not only can they get it removed but your account will be effected due to breaking the rules.

I'm still confused why anyone would sell a pickup item a few days before they were due to move. That's just asking for problems

Well I would sell it a few days before because its a fridge freezer and I generally prefer to eat most days, regardless of whether I am moving in few days time or not. I appreciate your point if it were a bit of furniture or an ornament, but not an essential appliance.
