Worst collection ever...

As I am moving out of my house tomorrow, I popped my fridge freezer on a one day auction, specifying that it would have to be collected Thursday. It went for £10 which is pretty cheap and the woman then emailed me to state she could collect it, but only Wednesday night and gave me the wrong phone number to contact her on. Eventually got hold of her after being put on hold by her child for 10 minutes and she promised her "peeps" would be here by 6.30pm at the latest as I had a dinner reservation for 7, but couldn't give a specific time.
I then waited in all afternoon and got a call at 6:29 saying he was stuck in traffic and would be a while, but promised to be here before 7.
Then after phoning three more times ask the same somewhat bizarre question of "my satnav says to go down this road, what should I do?", there was the crashing sound of his fist against my wooden front door, annoying all of my neighbours, despite the bell for my flat being right in front of his face.
He then came into my flat with his friend, both of them in dirty string wife-beaters, hands covered in oil and dirt. "I didn't bother to pick up the money but I've got a little bit in here," tipping out a ripped £5 note rolled into the tiniest ball possible, and a hand full of shrapnel. "That's £9 and some pence yeah, that'll do." He then proceeded to march off with the fridge, before turning back and shouting "it do work yeah mate?" And then as he was leaving, "I know we was late and stuff but don't leave 'er negatives..she'll kill me" Not if I get there first.....
So now I am down about a pound and feel slightly unclean and I can't even leave her feedback really as hers is set to private.
Anyone else have any horrendous collection stories?

so you let them leave without paying the full amount and he still wants a pos FB, negative all the way for meBeen away but now i am back!0

You can leave her feedback, you can't leave any buyer anything other than a positive. (for over two years now)
Don't be tempted to leave a positive with a negative comment though, as this can get you into hot water.
Nothing else to suggest really, but that's just one of the reasons I'll never do collection lots, nightmare buyers! This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.0 -
I can't really post a fridge freezer though. Aside from not being able to give buyers anything other than positive, her feedback is also set to private which makes giving her any essentially pointless as no-one else can see and it will just appear as another positive in her percentages.
I wanted it gone as I have to move and didn't have time to find another buyer, which is why I didn't send him packing to return with the correct amount, but it really does make me despair at how scummy people can be.0 -
Trust me - Shameless is a documentary.0

I would email them asking for the correct money .TRYING hard to be a good money saver :rolleyes:0

We've been clearing out our garage recently and have sold things on ebay - for very little money - and out of about 20 sales only three have given us the correct money.
We're not bothered, would have given it away really, we just wanted rid.
The latest did the money in the envelope trick, was £5 missing. I can't understand why people would do that. The OH has said no more collectionOPs so far £42,139

I had a memorable collection experience when the couple turned up slightly drunk and absolutely reeking of BO. I had to open all the windows and spray every room with perfume and I could still smell them an hour later. I didn't even count the money as I was so desperate to get them out of the door.0

I also sold a table and chairs the day before and she didn't think to ask till she was on the way "Will it fit in a car?" Firstly, maybe ask before you bid, win and are on the way. Secondly, what is a car? There is a huge difference between a 4x4 and a mini.0

I run an ebay business selling used items for motorcycles and often have to have collections as the item in question is too bulky/heavy for postage.
I have three collections that still stick to my mind :
1. A customer came to pick up a motorcycle frame - imagine how bulky the frames are - did say need a big car or van on the advert. He came on his scooter travelling over 40miles. I told him that it was rather bulky but he said he will manage. He then gave me the money - all £120 of it - in 50p peices!
My wife and i watched him put the frame on the rear seat, tied it down and then drove off with shock that he has actually done it!
2. I sold an exhaust for a Honda, rather large and awkward, the buyer sent his wife to collect it - she was 8 and a half months pregnant! I put it in the car for her and she paid in cash. Felt like battering the seller for sending out a heavily pregnant woman to collect an awkward item.
3. Sold a motorcycle on Ebay, buyer turned up along with 12 of his asian family members! I told the buyer that only him and one other person can view and the rest would need to stay in their vehicles (4 of them) due to security reasons - buyer then claimed I was racist etc. At this point I asked them to leave and they did so but not with a lot of abuse back at me. Had an email response back from him saying that my behaviour was unacceptable etc etc but I said having 13 people to come and collect the motorcycle was also unacceptable and I have to look out for my business security etc.
Luckily my stock is kept at a different location to where I have collections take place - this is because of all the scum that is around in this society.0
