Tesco won't honour their own coupon?

I used to work at Waitrose and people used to look for reduced items on offer eg 2 for £4 so you saved say £2
Then people would wait til the items were reduced to 75p each then buy 2.
I would have to give them 50p change, when they had paid for nothing it was ridiculous.
Vouchers worked the same way.
Freezer full of free raspberries courtesy of Waitrose. (£3.99 packs reduced to £0.99 combined with two for £6) (What is more the raspberries were in perfect condition - they weren't the usual crushed, tired, bleeding dregs that other supermarkets flog.)
But, OP, what part of 'can not be used in conjunction with other offers' do you not understand? Always worth trying but don't bleeding whinge in public when a perfectly reasonable restriction is enforced.0 -
I thought it was that CS SAID it wouldnt scan, but the OP has not tried it, as we all know sometimes those happy CS people do tell the occasional porkie
No, the op took it to the CS, who scanned it and said it was null and void as the item was on offer. They scanned my voucher and said it was 'null and void, due to them already being on offer'0 -
MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. I have done this in tescos, Brought loads of meat reduced and they owned me £8 and i ended up getting 2 bottles of wine for £8 and the meat free. I did buy some other stuff has i felt it a little cheeky but at the end of the day i do 99% of my food shopping there and it was there mistake so i cashed in on itif it was not me it would have been someone else.

They wouldn't it would be a loss for the store. Clubcard won't reinburse stores when products are on such offers.
Wrong I'm afraid! Cash offices will make sure their store is reimbursed for genuine coupons used on the right product.
It is fraud if you try and break a term and condition of the coupon and saying bypass the human check to use makes it fraud.0 -
No I don't know more than you Jill but its amazing what you can pick up on open forums - thanks for that
!
My knowledge of Tesco budgets and cash office practice is maybe a little simplistic but be sure I'll be paying attention.
I agree that it may breach terms and conditions but they aren't actually laws and I fail to see how breaching T&Cs is a serious offence whereas fraud certainly is.
I would still use the coupon if I was the OP and risk the wrath of any team leaders who didn't like it.0 -
Oh sorry forgot a couponer knows more than staff - silly me
As for my fraud reference, trying to obtain money off via a coupon which specifically states its not valid if the product is on offer is fraud and doing it via self scan in my opinion is theft.
In this case they do know more than you. You were asked a straight question and just waffled and acted like you have your head stuck up your fat a** simply because you are staff."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."
"I could play all day in my Green Cathedral".
"The Centuries that divide me shall be undone."
"A dream? Really, Doctor. You'll be consulting the entrails of a sheep next. "0 -
You know, just occasionally the customer may know more than Tesco staff.
Had it myself this week.
SS tills allow one 25 points coupon, then another and till asks you to insert.
Then a message comes up asking for store approval. So member of staff comes along to authorise. Then message says product not purchased. So member of staff attempts to retrive coupon from machine and hands it back to you.But when you walk out of store with coupon and store receipt in hand you find the till has allowed the coupon anyhow.
Now when this exact same sequence happens 5 times in 2 weeks, I thought I would do the kindly thing for Tesco and request that the member of staff check the till reciept before handing back the coupon.I have no wish to be accused of serial fraud, even if not my fault.
Lets just say that I was met by the most surly arrogance because i questioned the Tesco sequence of doing things.
And thats the trouble with that store. They have become too big,and the customer is an inconvience to them.0
