Sorry, but that is codswallop.
I have only ever offered tracked-mail services, both within the UK and overseas. If a buyer wants the item, they accept the postal charge, as they know it won't go "missing" on its way to them, and both the buyer and myself can track the item as I email them the tracking number when posted.
BTW, I have been selling on Ebay for several years and have sold in excess of 500 items, so have slightly more experience of selling, and am not in it for a "profit", just to get rid of stuff that I don't want / need any more.
Yes but you get less money for your item.
If i want to spend say £10 on a book and your competitors are doing second class at £1.95 and you are doing 2nd class recorded at £2.69 then I have £8.05 to spend on your competitors book but only £7.31 on yours. So You are paying for recorded out fo your profits.
Obviously i am pleased that you make enough to do that on every item and as a seller I encourage all my competitors to be more expensive than me as it helps my sales greatly.
However, if you think everyone on ebay is a scammer why do you sell on there?
I know it has been said before but there seem to be alot of misinformation about recorded. It is not tracked mail, it is not a faster service and it carries no more insurance than standard mail. As nothing that arrives here at my door is ever signed for , nor is more than about 1 in 10 items i use recorded for ever signed for it is also useless for paypal purposes .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. At least you're lucky that you don't have to sign for Recorded delivery mail. I always have to sign for stuff that comes RD. If I miss it I have to go 3 miles to the sorting office on a Saturday morning to pick it up when I could have been having a lie in. I tired to get a redelivery once, and I was promised next day and it came 3 days later and no apology. Once you factor in the inconvenience and cost of going to the sorting office, buying online isn't as enjoyable. There's a reason why amazon/play/hmv etc. don't send CD's and DVD's recorded delivery.0 -

I agree with you, when i am working long contracts I hate getting a parcel card on a monday as I always worry it will get sent back before I can collect or that they'll lose it (as they have done for me before now).
I actively choose not to buy from someone using recorded if i have another seller at the same price using standard mail.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Sorry OP, suddenly realised I'd come into the thread with nothing helpful to add.PS. My feedback percentage is still 99.6%, its my DSR's that I'm worrying about!
But, as to your DSRs, your stars will go down (possibly quite badly by the sounds of things), but if it's any comfort as far as status (TRS, above standard, standard and below standard) they can only affect you once per customer.
I'd give ebay customer support a try- they can only say no, and you might be able to get the item as described and P+P ones removed as they are not relevant.
Other things to mention- look at your buyers feedback left for others tab, if it looks like they do this a lot then point it out.
Give details of your messages sent and when, you may have been caught up in the message missing issues.
You probably won't get anywhere, though sorry to say. This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.

What? Where did I even IMPLY that I think everyone on Ebay is a scammer? I think you are confusing me with another poster!
Here. If a buyer wants the item, they accept the postal charge, as they know it won't go "missing" on its way to them, and both the buyer and myself can track the item as I email them the tracking number when posted.
You are covering yourself against buyers who say their items are 'missing', those are your quote marks not mine. If an item is missing then recorded doesn't help at all does it as you'd still need to refund.
I believe my buyers if item goes missing, hence my comment that if I thought that many people were scammers I would give up. I think my current losses are around 2 in a thousand parcels. A thousand parcels would cost me £740 to send recorded ..and I have no reason to suspect those two weren't real losses anyway. It doesn't make business sense to spend that much for so little.
Also it is worth noting that recorded is not a tracked service, so neither you nor your buyer can track it. It usually shows that PO has accepted the item and that's it, I can 'prove' that with a COP.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Don't try and convince him. He can keep sending 99p items RD, so RM doesn't have to increase their standard post prices as much, as they are raking it in with the money they are making from RD.0

I sold 2 or 3 items at the end of May and they were all sent off on the same day.
Approx 1 week later I had an email from one of the buyers claiming it hadn't been received and asking whether I had sent it yet. I responded within hours saying it was sent the very next day after the auction ended (as all items were paid for straight away) and that she should receive it in next day or two (it was sent 2nd class standard) however if she doesn't, then let me know.
3 or 4 days later I heard from her again saying she still hadn't received. That was all that was said in the email. I emailed her back (again, within hours) saying that I would refund her immediately and sent her my apologies. I never heard anything after that until today when I log on to my eBay and find she has left me negative feedback saying "NO ITEM NO ANSWER TO EMAIL VERY BAD SELLER" and given me all 1* DSR's.
I have emailed her asking her to justify these claims, especially about the 'No answer to email' bit, but I don't expect to hear anything back. I'm extremely angry I have to admit. I have responded politely (and not in capitals) but its really dented my DSR's. I don't sell very often, I think about 100 things in last 2 years however only 45 have left feedback so these have really dented me.
What should I do to 'recover' from this or am I worrying unnecessarily?
OP, can i make a few suggestions to add to those excellent ones already made by Turkish Delight.
Firstly block the buyer from bidding again, just in case. Bung a few easy to sell items up and get a quick turnover of decent feedback. You need to keep your rolling 30 day feedback totals high so that the neg and stars don't push you into the 'red zone' with ebay.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. As a buyer I prefer the seller NOT to use recorded. If I am on early shift at work it means I have to trek to the sorting office after work to collect it, and if I'm on late shift I have to answer the door in my dressing gown to sign for the package.
If I can I try to opt for standard mail if there is a choice.
As a seller I prefer NOT to use recorded too. As long as the item is sent to the buyers registered address I don't have a problem. On the rare occasion an item is lost then I can claim my money back through Royal Mail.
Obviously if the item is worth more than £41 I will use Special Delivery. My daughters are my world0 -

I agree, that is always worth highlighting.
I had a special to go today but luckily it was very light and only cost £5.50. I'd only charged £1.20 postage so had to pay the rest myself, but I had expected the item to go for the opening bid of £19.99 and not over £60!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
