1. I only offer Recorded Delivery and pass the cost on to my buyer. Its never affected sales.
2. I've never had an issue with tracking/POD showing up online. The only 'issue' I've had is that a signature is illegible, but that's not really a problem. It's still a POD.
I guess it depends on what you are selling and who your market are. Recorded Delivery is the safest way IMO, unless we are talking items of value and then I would always use Special Del or a courier to ensure I'm insured adequately.
Sorry, but I would never send by Standard services - it's an invitation to easily get scammed via an INR.0 -

Actually it is, as buyers do not want recorded delivery and will not pay extra for it. I've sold about 150 items, and offered RD delivery as an extra and nobody took the option. Most people have to work 9-5 everyday, and cannot wait in for post so they have to travel miles on a Saturday morning to a delivery office to pick up something which could easily be popped through the letterbox. If 2 sellers are selling the same item for £10, the seller who sends RD gets 75p less profit for every sale. Multiply that by 100 that works out at £75, so the seller gets £75 less profit, and annoys their buyers at the same time.0 -
That's entirely the choice of the seller. If someone wants to buy from me, they will get recorded delivery. That's my terms and I've never had a sales issue. Granted, I'm not a business seller, but I have sold quite a few items over the years.
If its a parcel and the buyer is not at home, they'll need to collect it anyway - so the signature is irrelevant.0 -
I don't know if you sent by RM Standard Parcels but if you did then I'm pretty sure it will turn up eventually. I've discovered this through experience myself on a number of occasions when buying low value stuff of parcel size. The seller sends it by RM Standard Parcels usually and they regularly take 2-4 weeks to arrive here, even though the post mark is dated within a day or two of the sale.
The first time this happened I ended up opening a dispute with Ebay despite the seller's protestations that it had been sent next day. I didn't believe him but I ended up having to apologise to him when it did eventually arrive nearly 4 weeks after the post marked date.
While there is a whole bunch of loopholes with Recorded delivery, for the most part it does what it says on the tin and your stuff arrives pretty quick in my experience, and is worth paying the extra 70p to get a parcel sent that way if the seller is planning to use Standard Parcels. :cool:0 -

No.Can you get recorded delivery with standard parcels?
And recorded makes no difference to timescale whatsoever, it's a curiously enduring myth though.
You can however send things that can go SP by 1st class for extra which actually does make a difference (and is upgradable to recorded if you want to).
It's not 70p difference though- for 2kg SP is £4.41 1st is £6.60 and recorded 1st is £7.34.This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. Sorry, but that is codswallop.
I have only ever offered tracked-mail services, both within the UK and overseas. If a buyer wants the item, they accept the postal charge, as they know it won't go "missing" on its way to them, and both the buyer and myself can track the item as I email them the tracking number when posted.
BTW, I have been selling on Ebay for several years and have sold in excess of 500 items, so have slightly more experience of selling, and am not in it for a "profit", just to get rid of stuff that I don't want / need any more.0 -
So you've spent £375 on RD delivery (assuming that all of these items were sold at less than £39), which has gone into the post office till and not yours. Do you honestly believe that you would have lost that much by sending standard post, which would have been compensated for by RM anyway. You might have lost some money through the occasional lost parcel if RM don't pay out, however this loss would have been far less than the cost of sending everything RD.Sorry, but that is codswallop.

So in other words you have no idea if what the poster said was true or not.I have only ever offered tracked-mail services
Buyers will not pay extra for recorded.
Smart buyers won't anyway. I always have a little chuckle to myself when I see sellers offering it for a extra fee, as it's your responsibilty to get the item to me, so why should anyone pay extra?
I pay what I want to pay, if you want to spend 74p of that money on a useless service then that's up to you, but as a seller I'd rather have it in my pocket not Royal Mail's.This is my opinion.
