  • Engineer just installed the modem. it was for sure an unusual experience for the hotpoint engineer. In the end I showed him the setup. but it was fast and painfree. we'll see what happens next.

    Ok, i realise im probably the only person posting on here at the moment, but thought i would just update in case anyone has same problem in future. When my fridge modem stopped working, I rung Npower, who are running the trial, they knew nothing about it (the trial that is), Rltech (sp), who Npower have sub-contracted it to have an answerphone message, are now a different company and never got back to me after repeated messages left, i eventually decided to turn off my thingy on fridge at mains and then turned back on again, this did sort the problem. We had a power cut in our road, so think that put it out of sinc.

    While i was happy to do trial, still am, my concern was that if the modem was not working or sending info, plus no proof that i was trying to sort problem, that i would be in breach of the conditions, so freezer could be removed - this is my only fridge freezer. Hopefully, this is not the case with anyone, as none of us seem to have contact numbers if things go wrong.

  • I've had the fridge plugged in for a while but it was almost 6 months before anybody phoned me about connecting it. Engineer was clueless so I set everything up but have no idea whether it is sending any information or not and nobody at Npower seems to know anything about it.

    I don't know when the trial finishes, whether they will tell us it has (or been discontinued) or anything, not who to contact. I would be interested to know how it's going and at least that my data is being received OK.

    On the plus side I (for now at least) have a fantastic and quiet fridge freezer working away quite happily. Being a natural cynic I do share other people's fears about suddenly being told I am in breach of something or other and being landed with a bill for a fridge at some point!

    Mine's still going, although two segments of the LED on the front display have failed already.

    I do now have a broadband service again, thanks to the Welsh Assembly Government (useful for something then) and have been transmitting data for a while (I can actually see the data transmission through my router interface). Whether they're actually doing anything with it is anyone's guess. In the T&Cs it does say if you stop transmitting they'll contact you to find out why, no-one did with me.

    Also the trial is due to conclude at the end of Dec this year. Do we have any hope that they'll come round and remove the monitoring equipment?
  • My monitoring equipment keeps turning its self on and off.Does anybody know off a telephone number i can call to report this.

    I guess no-one has had any contact that the trial has finished and that Rltec/Open Energi would like to remove their monitoring equipment?

    I've just used the 'contact us' form to ask if they have any information about the trial and if it is still ongoing.
