I got my fridge at the start of June and have not heard anything at all.

As an aside, I wouldn't be very happy with the design if I had paid for the fridge. The overhang on the fridge door is too big to properly see in the top drawer of the freezer. On more than one occasion the top drawer has fallen out and its all cracked and broken.
  • has anyone received the fridge. My email said it would be delivered in september and they would contact me a month before to arrange delivery. It only seems to be the freezers and fridge/freezers that have gone out so far, were they on time? Thought i'd ask around before chasing it up. Thanks

I'm in the same boat too! Had my email months ago, and haven't heard a sausage since :(
  • I got an email yesterday - further to the email in March saying I would be getting a fridge freezer and then one the next day, saying that I wouldn't.

    Yesterdays email said:
Congratulations you have been selected from our reserve list to participate in the Dynamic Demand trial.
It went on to say that:
Your appliance is now being specially made and fitted with the dynamic demand technology and is due to be delivered around 2011
    [sic]

Needless to say, after the last fiasco, I am not holding my breath!

Last November I got my first email to say I was successful and that the fridge/freezer was to be delivered in March. Well after much chasing, I finally got it in june. I've not heard a peep from then since!
  • Got my fridge-freezer in April. It is fantastic. I also have not heard anything since it was delivered

I was offered this too about 18 months ago!!!

    !
    Dear Customer

Your free FZS175P - DDC Edition 60cm Hotpoint Upright Freezer is on its way

Your new freezer will form part of the Dynamic Demand technology that helps to reduce the UK carbon dioxide emissions by responding to changes on the national grid. The freezer will know if the grid has too much electricity in the system and switch on to increase demand or if there is too little electricity, switch off to reduce demand - in both cases helping to balance the grid.

In a first for British homes, RLtec, with funding provided by npower, are conducting a wide ranging trial, which will demonstrate the potential to reduce the nation's carbon dioxide emissions through dynamic demand freezer technology. We believe that this is the biggest trial of 'smart appliances' in Europe.

As part of this trial you have been selected to receive a FZS175P - DDC Edition 60cm Hotpoint Upright Freezer, which you'll be able to keep at the end of the trial as long as you've kept to the terms and conditions of the trial agreement.

Your terms and conditions are attached along with a guide to the trial that should have all the information you need, and Indesit will be in touch soon about the delivery of your freezer and dynamic demand technology. If you have any questions please consult your Participant Information guide where you'll find some useful contact numbers.

If your circumstances change and you no longer want to take part in the trial, please call RLtec on 02033 971260, so that we can let somebody else take your place.

    Kind regards,
    Bob Jackson

Thing is, in the specs it says it should consume 0.86kW per day but mine is more like 2kW+, and thats on Eco!

I think that's a lot for any fridge freezer and will cost a lot per year, is anyone aware of how much power theirs is taking, would love to know.

Hi Ratio, I recently got an Owl monitor and yesterday took a look at how much energy was being consumed. Switching the fridge freezer off to on (but not running) showed no increase in power consumption (the Owl goes down to 0.001 kW), setting the motor/compressor running showed an increase in power consumption of 0.097 kW. If this were to be on 24 hours/day then it would consume (24 x 0.097) 2.328 kWh/day, in order for it to only consume 0.86 kWh/day (which I think is what you're saying it should) then it should be on a maximum of around 8.8 hours. I think mine is on much less than that. Obviously without knowing exactly how long per day the motor/compressor is running it's impossible to say how much energy is being used.

@the_mum - I'd agree slightly with your comment, it's certainly not the best for looking at the contents of the top drawer (haven't managed to pull mine out so that it drops out of the FF yet) but my gripe is the bottom drawer - I can't get anything in or out without actually removing the drawer from the FF.

Mind you, that sounds like I'm being ungrateful, I'm not and even though it looks lovely it wouldn't be my first choice if were looking for a new FF.

I too haven't heard a squeak out of Rltec since the delivery.

The bottom drawer is a pain, I thought it was just me!
