- By applying to participate in the Trial and upon acceptance of your application (which shall be at the absolute discretion of RLtec) you agree to be bound by, and will be a party to an agreement (“the Trial Agreement”) with RLtec subject to, these terms and conditions (“the Terms and Conditions”).
- If your application contains any false information RLtec reserves the right to withdraw you from the Trial and/or to charge you for the cost of the Equipment.
- References to RLtec shall include its employees and subcontractors; and “you” (and “your”) refers to the person who has applied to and been accepted to participate in the Trial.
- The Trial (insofar as it relates to you) will start on installation of the Equipment (as described in clause 7 below) in your home and end (again insofar as it relates to you) upon whichever of the following events is first to occur: (i) your withdrawal from the Trial; (ii) termination of the Trial or your participation in it by RLtec; (iii) you moving home (unless RLtec agrees under clause 22 to your participation in the Trial continuing in your new home); (iv) the ending of the energy supplier Carbon Emissions Reduction Target; or (v) 31 December 2012.
- You confirm that you are authorised and have all necessary consents and permissions to enter into this Trial Agreement. If you are not the homeowner (for example if you are a tenant) you confirm that you have the homeowner’s permission to enter this Trial Agreement and comply with its terms.
- RLtec may terminate this Trial or your participation in it at any time at its absolute discretion without liability (except for any liability which RLtec agrees to accept elsewhere in these Terms and Conditions or may have generally). If it does so, RLtec will notify you of the same.
- On termination of the Trial for whatever reason you must allow RLtec access to your home to remove the Equipment. RLtec will not remove the Refrigerator where it has terminated the Trial or your participation in it for any reason other than breach of these Terms and Conditions on your part or where your participation is terminated in accordance with clause 22. For the avoidance of doubt if you breach any term of these Terms and Conditions, RLtec shall have the right to remove you from the Trial and to remove the Equipment.
- You may choose to withdraw from the Trial at any time. Should you choose to withdraw from the Trial at any time for any reason before 31 December 2012 you must notify RLtec immediately and thereafter allow RLtec access to your home on reasonable notice to remove the Equipment (including the Refrigerator).

During the Trial
- All Equipment is and shall throughout the Trial remain the property of RLtec.
- RLtec may, and you agree to give RLtec access to your home to, remove, maintain and repair the Equipment at any reasonable time subject to reasonable notice being provided by RLtec, except where access may be required immediately, for example in order to deal with any emergency situation, in which case you agree to RLtec entering your home without, or with short notice. If you fail to provide such access, RLtec reserves the right to withdraw you from the Trial and/or to charge you for the cost of the Equipment.
- The Equipment is intended and may only be used for domestic purposes. You must use the Equipment in accordance with the applicable operating instructions and/or as may be advised by RLtec and not for any other purpose. You must not tamper with, damage, impair the operation of, attempt to maintain or repair or remove the Equipment and you will be liable for all costs, damages, expenses and losses incurred by RLtec or any of the third parties referred to in clause 34, if you do so, or if you refuse RLtec access to maintain or repair the Equipment. All Equipment supplied to you by RLtec for the purposes of the Trial will be maintained (and where necessary repaired) by RLtec. However, RLtec will not be responsible for the repair or maintenance of any of your household items or appliances which are connected to the Equipment, e.g. your computer, unless such maintenance or repair is required as a direct result of RLtec’s negligence.
- You must throughout the Trial, keep the Equipment turned on and connected to a working internet connection which must remain connected 24 hours per day (except for any interruptions for reasons beyond your reasonable control). You remain solely responsible for payment of charges relating to electricity usage and internet access which you must pay in accordance with the terms of supply of those services to you to avoid any risk of disconnection.
- During the Trial RLtec may request, and you agree to give RLtec such assistance as may be reasonably requested over the telephone for the purposes of determining any faults in the connection between the Refrigerator and the internet.
- In addition to its right to access your home under clause 13 you agree to allow RLtec access to your home on occasions to be agreed in advance with RLtec (and you must not unreasonably withhold your agreement) from time to time in order for RLtec to monitor and/or make adjustments to any Equipment (“Planned Visits”). RLtec will use reasonable endeavours to minimise any inconvenience to you associated with Planned Visits. You agree to co-operate with RLtec in relation to such Planned Visits, and you accept that if you fail to permit RLtec such access your home for the purposes of any Planned Visit then RLtec reserves the right to withdraw you from the Trial and/or to charge you for the cost of the Equipment.
- By participating in this Trial you acknowledge that the installation and operation of the Equipment may affect any existing home and/or buildings and contents insurance you may have, and you agree that the responsibility for taking any action to maintain your insurance at the same level of cover following the installation and/or operation of the Equipment is yours.
- The Equipment must be kept in your home (and not in any garage or outbuilding) and (subject to clause 40 (transfer of ownership of the Refrigerator to you) returned to RLtec in the same condition as it was provided to you, except for fair wear and tear. RLtec may require you to pay the costs of repairing the Equipment if this is not the case.
- During the Trial you must notify RLtec using the contact details in clause 42 as soon as possible should you become aware of any fault or defect in the Equipment.

FYI: You should NOT be turning off your main ADSL Point of Contact (for most people this will be the router supplied from their ISP). If an ADSL connection is dropped for whatever reason (telephone line down, power cut, you turnign it off), most ISP equipment in the exchange will think that your line has had a fault and will drop your syncronisation rate the next time you connect (or turn it back on) slowly degrading your connection until it is useless.
ADSL essentially MUST be on 24*7!0 -
Purpose of the Trial, use of Data and Third Party Rights
- The Trial is intended to provide RLtec (and certain other parties) with information relating to participants’ (including your) energy consumption and the operation, use and operating environment of the Equipment (“Data”). By agreeing to participate in this Trial you consent to RLtec utilising this Data to determine the carbon dioxide saving of the Refrigerator. The Data is of use to Npower Limited and/or any other company within the same group as npower (“npower”), which has a Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (“CERT”) being a statutory obligation placed on npower relating to energy savings. As a result, by participating in the Trial, you agree to Data and your personal details (including your receipt of any benefits and/or your age as referred to on your Trial participation questionnaire if these identify you as a member of the CERT priority group) being provided to npower for the purposes of its CERT obligations and to Ofgem (the energy industry and CERT regulator - whether via npower or RLtec) and so that npower may send you details of their products and services which may be of interest to you unless you have opted out on your Trial participation questionnaire.
- You also consent to the Data, your personal details and other information obtained under the Trial being passed to npower, Indesit Company UK Limited and to third party subcontractors for the purposes of or in connection with the Trial and any development, assessment and/or implementation of the Trial.
- By participating in this Trial you consent to being contacted at any reasonable time in relation to the Trial by the organisations connected with or having an interest in the Trial (being Ofgem, RLtec, npower Indesit and any other person notified to you by RLtec from time to time) or for any other purpose permitted by you and you agree to co-operate and respond appropriately, for example by completing any questionnaires or feedback forms to the best of your ability.
- You understand that all information you receive in relation to the Trial, including your participation in it, the terms of this Trial Agreement including these Terms and Conditions and the Data (“Confidential Information”), is confidential to RLtec. As a result, you agree not to disclose any Confidential Information to any person other than those specified in Clauses 34 and 35 at any time during the Trial and for such time thereafter until RLtec confirms to you that the Information has ceased to be confidential. In the event that you breach this Clause 37 RLtec reserves the right to remove you from the Trial forthwith and to charge you all costs which RLtec may reasonably incur in removing the Equipment from your home.
- You must not discuss the Trial or your participation in it with any media organisation or other third party.

This is not true - My router is generally switched off unless I am on-line - and my rate is constant !!
This has been the case for 5+ years !0 -
I've been trying to find out more about the models being offered.
People may worry it won't fit, or lacks a feature they need. (Many thanks to IcelandicMaiden for her excellent Post No7 about the PBAA 34 NF D fridge freezer).
Googling finds plenty of info on that, but didn't help on the under-counter Fridge (model no RLA36D) - maybe renamed for the trial?
I tried the Indesit website, but couldn't fathom which (if any) of their range it might be a variant of.
Then I saw the FAQ on the npower mini-site suggesting that the models are Hotpoint, with Indesit (sister brand?) doing the installs. The Hotpoint model numbers are a near-match, but not exact. The 'D' suffix perhaps replaces the standard 'P' and 'G' for the nPower project.

Check you can fit the one you want - preferably with a bit extra to allow warm air to escape from the back. The manual says 'WARNING: If there is less than 30mm clearance above the fridge, a vent must be fitted to provide adequate ventilation above your fridge.'
And it's not just width (59.8cm). The under counter models are 62cm deep - so we're stuck with our 1960's Hotpoint for a while yet.:(0 -
Managed to apply - thanks:D
Got round the constant resubmitting of the page by turning off the wireless connection while I filled the form out & then turning it back on to submit.Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0 -
Do the fridges have wireless internet access? If they do it would have made this so much easier to include this in the description to avoid worry about cabling and drilling issues...0
