Free Energy Efficient Fridge Freezers Discussion

We are on a very low income, my husband is on sickness benefits. We currently have a really old inefficient separate fridge and freezer, we are in fuel poverty and then some. I just wish I had seen this offer before they took it down as we really can't afford to replace our current items, Freecycle is no use if you have no transport to get large items home and, truth be told, most of the stuff they are giving away is likely to be little better than what we already have.

It is good of NPower to do this but they should have anticipated the deluge of applications and allowed for it - a company that size does not have a server that can cope with this amount of traffic? Not likely, they just have too many applications to deal with already. No prizes for guessing how many non-Npower customers will get one!

PS. And for the record CQ I'd already trolled Freecycle for weeks. They only came up on Sabbath (and I try not to be online on Sabbath. It's a day for my soul) and I usually missed them....SRN (does that stand for scottish recovery network by any chance?) I have duly reported you......I not moaning..this is being me nice

It was not advertised as an opportunity for everyone who applied to receive a free one, so I (like many others) cannot see why people were venting their anger at what is basically a lucky dip. I never got to apply and only kept checking back here to see if it was up and running again. It wasn't, so no worries, I missed the boat this time and will continue to check the freebies section on this site for anything else (big or small) that I may be lucky enough to get.:)

There was nothing abusive in my posts and I take offence to your comments that there was. Duly reported.

Don't you need a broadband connection to be able to have this free fridge freezer?? So if you can't afford a kettle are you really going to be able to afford a phone line and broadband connection?? How exactly are you getting on the internet now? If you have internet at home I'd cancel the internet, cancel the phone line and with the money you save you can get the essentials your so desperate for? Unless having internet is more important than a kettle and cooker?

Also surely if your so desperate for money you can not afford a second hand fridge freezer should you really be buying an expresso machine (even if it was only for a tenner?)

Surely instead of bickering amongst ourselves we should be cross with npower, no not for not giving us a free fridge but for keading us on if this is the case instead of saying they would be fixiing the problem thay should have said they were closing the offer completely maybe people just don't like being led on, its not about demanding something or wanting something for nothing but people do have a right to expect the communication from companies like npower to be a honest one and I find it hard to understand why people on here feel a right to turn on others.:mad:

I'm not angry, just annoyed, with nPower. If I apply and don't get that's fair enough, but not being able to apply in the first place, that hurts. If nPower are still reading these is the closing date still 12th July?

just noticed this site ,one thing crossed my mind ,most routers have transformer which gets hot when on for say 12 hours , so there could be problem if on constant ,I had one turn really hot and next day was u/s , contacted supplier and recieved a new free one but was told that it happened quite often with continious use.

I have never quoted on these forums before, but wanted to say that i cannot believe the responses from some people! This was a genuine offer to help in research of energy efficient products that will in the end help and benefit society as a whole. Whoever gets the chance to get a fridge will be lucky I agree, but they will also have to do their bit in return (for those who think it is just a freebie!!). To ring up the company in question and to behave out of the ordinary is bound to ruin offers like this that may come up in the furture, hence ruining chances for yourselves!!! We are all supposed to be adults here!
