Thanks for taking an interest in our 'free fridge' offer.

We've had a fantastic response with an exceptional number of completed applications - it's great to see so many people interested in cutting back their energy use. Unfortunately, as a result, our website is still experiencing a lot of traffic.

For this reason and to avoid further frustration we are removing the page until we can resolve the problem in order to meet the demand.

We are very sorry about the issues that have arisen we will do our best to resolve the problem as quickly as possible. We will amend the closing date to ensure everyone has a chance to apply. We will confirm when the offer is live again via the MoneySavingExpert website.

Obviously they were inundated with applications and didn’t want any more.

“For this reason and to avoid further frustration we are removing the page until we can resolve the problem in order to meet the demand.” my bottom!!!!

I’m sure they’re hoping that if they leave the holding page up long enough people will forget about the offer.

    A very dishonest approach :(

I really do need this fridge freezer and I got there before the site crashed. What's the prob? I mean I even emailed martin. There are no phone no's on this site. I have phone NPower who washed their hands. I can't even get a grant for one off DWP despite being disabled etc etc.

What's going on? I fit all the criteria...Am I going to have to go into debt just to keep myself healthy?

Hi Erme - this is a long term remote potential 'freebie' for people so if you desperately need one and therefore haven't got one already I wouldn't rely on this offer alone as I don't think the fridges will even be rolled out till the end of the year. Also, many many people will 'fit all the criteria' as a whole cross-section of the population by demographics, benefits and no-benefits etc etc will apply so the criteria is only as long as you're not selling the house, have a wireless lan and a plug socket somewhere near. I think the chances of actually getting one of these is going to be minimal and it's more like a competition than any guaranteed 'freebie'.

In all honesty, you don't need a fridge in order to be healthy it just makes life easier. They are a very recent invention and people managed for many thousands of years without them. Claiming that what is essentially a common luxury is vital for your health just sounds hysterical.
Have you tried freecycle, freegle or gumtree?

Whilst Erme may be unrealistically pinning their hopes on getting this fridge/freezer this thread is getting seriously off topic.

What is it with some people and benefit bashing, do you troll the entire forum in the hope of finding someone to have a go at?, it is off topic to this thread so don't try and turn this in to a kick people when they are down session.

As you can see, I have rarely made any comments (and never one like this)on here and felt the need this time as i felt the comments made moaning about npower were unjustified. The didn't have to give anything away and congratulations to the people who did register before they were inundated and who may receive a free one.

Just getting fed up seeing people throw their toys out of the pram with what is just a bad case of sour grapes.

I completely agree, everyone loves a freebie, and we shouldn't be negative towards a company because we don't get one, but having a go at someone because they are on benefits is not acceptable, none of us can know the true extent of an individuals circumstances so it is not for us to judge.

I never mentioned benefits. Was just agreeing with a post about saving up to buy things.

The freecycle comment was very good, people are always replacing things that work with newer models. I'm sure if people are desperate, there are ways and means to obtain one. Even a post in a wanted section of a forum could lead to someone helping out with one they no longer require.

I understand your sentiments, but perhaps you should have been more careful when agreed with srn who in the quote you replied to stated:
I work for everything I have and pay for people who don't work with my taxes.

Which suggests you shared the same belief.

My initial post wasn't directed specifically at you but anyone who was being derogatory about those on benefits.

I won't comment any further on this.

Please spare me the insults....I already live a frugal lifestyle (trying to) and like I don't expect everything to be handed to be on a plate...I could really do without the insults today when having had a very little sleep and will be reporting the relevant posts as abuse (I don't care who you are to be honest..troll or otherwise)....

I have lived without a fridge/freezer and kettle for months on end and even a cooker. I don't doubt it's possible. Just not right now.

I could justify myself further but I fear that would only add fuel to the fire so those abusive posts (whilst you're entitled to your opinion - READ my signature) will be appropriately reported...

    Every blessing

PS. And for the record CQ I'd already trolled Freecycle for weeks. They only came up on Sabbath (and I try not to be online on Sabbath. It's a day for my soul) and I usually missed them....SRN (does that stand for scottish recovery network by any chance?) I have duly reported you......I not moaning..this is being me nice :)
