Sky only costs me £19 per month, so plus i get a a discount on on Sky internet. (Unlimited usage at 20GB speed for just £7.50 per month),
so cancelling it would barely make any difference.

Plus i would not be able to watch any TV without my sky box, so id have an extremely boring life.

And i only bought my ps3 6months ago and paid £230 for it.
If i sold it now id be lucky to get £150.

And so itd not only be stupid financially to sell it, but id also then have no ps3.

Im seriously gutted that i bet on spain beating switzerland 3-0 today, instead of betting the free £20 on switzerland winning the match.
As id have won £260 then whoch would have cleared the bill!! :@ :'(

Hopefully the Charis Grants will clear the bill though, but if no i will try provident, but have them send the money into 1 of my bank accounts that i never keep money in anyways. :/

Thanks to the people who help me though.

I applied through the British Gas Trust people a couple of years ago when I saw it on MSE. They did not adjust my metre for 2 years dispite doing readings every few months. When they realised there mistake and the fact I should have been paying a higher amount I was over 1000 in debt with my gas and they wanted to put my monthly direct debit up to £230 a month. I think I actually cried on the phone to the poor lady at BG. I filled in the application form and said that I am able to afford my monthly bills at the moment. However, if this mistake had not happened I would not have to find £230 a month which I couldnt. I explained that finding this extra money would mean using my shopping money every month to cover the amount. I had a reply back within 2 weeks saying they were looking into it and within another 2 weeks they had paid of the whole outstanding balance and put my gas and electric account back to a £0 balance.

But it is true, they do say that they will only help people if there is a reason for the debt and if you can show it will help you financially with out the problem happening again.

As other people have said I would not get into further debt, you are slowely sinking further and further into what will end up a horrid situation but I dont think you can see it. Tell the supplier that you can not afford to pay and ask them to put a payment metre in for you. I know they charge a little higher but if you only stay in your house for 9 to 12 days a month then you only need to worry about putting money in the metre when you are there. They will also put your metre a little higher in order to charge money back for the amount you owe them to.

Provident, Shopacheck and payday loans should be looked at with great caution and every other option possible should be tried first. They target vulnerable people and get away with charging very very high interest and you end up in a cycle of living off them.

Are you actually moving back in with your parents? Or did you just tell BG that. I think it might actually be a good idea if you did. You could get yourself out of debt. Then when you are in employment and have more money coming in you will be in a better position to support yourself financially in your own place with out having to live below the poverty line all of the time.

    Good luck x x

Hi and thanks for the advice. :o

No im not really going to move back with parents though as i love having my own flat, have lived alone since i left college,
and so won't be moving back home.

I don't really mind what interest rate the loan company set, as ive already got 11k debt which i haven't been able to make any repayments on since i took them out nearly 3years ago,
so adding a few hundred quid more to that pile won make any difference,
as im going to get a debt relief order in a few weeks/months anyways.

But am very worried that i wont be able to get any money from them even if its for a 10,000% interest rate. :(

I just hope the british gas trust wipe of the debt for me though so i can switch supplier to a way cheaper one! :(

This is sounding more unbelievable as it goes on.
Who buys a PS3 when they have 11k debt and cannot afford to pay their fuel bills.
The pS3 will not work when they cut the power off for non payment.

A point which you may not have thought of though re the Sky and the PS3 - how are you going to use them if you have your electricity cut off?
    Best Regards

You love having your own flat - well if your very poor attitude continues then that isn't going to last long is it? You can't afford your living costs as they are and clearly have your priorities totally wrong - there are people coming on here seeking help who are in financial difficulties through circumstances beyond their control and they desperately want to pay back what they owe.

Why would anyone want to give you a loan when you clearly have no intention of paying it back - regardless of the rate they charge nil repayment = nothing.

Ever heard of the term "waster" - I think that applies to you very well.

If you take out more credit with no intention of paying it back and knowing you cannot afford to then that is fraud. Not sure that would be looked on too kindly on your DRO application.

OP, you are still in denial about the gravity of your situation.

Our advice is what you NEED to do.

You're not ready to accept help yet, you're still looking for the easy way out. There isn't one.

Please, try to look at your finances objectively:

You rely on benefits for your income
    You're already 11k in debt
Yet you pay out for Sky and Internet (you can get Freeview by the way, and use internet library access)
You bought a PS3 that you can't afford and now won't sell cos you'll make a loss. Of course you will, but that's not really the point is it. You need to pay off this bill otherwise you'll soon be without electricity or a home and what good will the PS3 be then?
You refuse to move home, even though you can't afford your bills. Moving home would allow you to start repaying your debts, instead you're looking to increase them.

Have you looked at the meter usage yet?

Have you tried talking to the energy company again yet?

I'm not trying to be harsh, but you seem to be missing the important facts here. And therefore missing the bigger picture.

Please, take a step back and you'll see that you need to make changes. Increasing your debt is NOT the answer.

And you 'bet' on Spain winning today? How much did you lose? Seriously, you need to listen to what everyone else has said. Sell the PS3, and use whatever you make to pay off some of the debt. Get rid of Sky, go to Poundland and buy an internal aerial. You'll get BBC1 and 2, ITV and Channel 4, it's something. And you might be bored, as you say, but there's more to life than telly; go for a walk, go window shopping, read a book - it's better than getting in more debt. I know where you're coming from, it's !!!!!! when you're in this sort of situation, and easy to look for a 'quick fix'. They don't exist. We have very little disposable cash in our life, we pay our bills first and have fun second - it's rubbish, but it's life unfortunately. I hope it works out ok.
