Vent Re: Nasty Posts

Options
I am relatively new to MSE but have lurked for about a year or so. Over the past few months I have been a daily visitor to the site and I feel I have to say something.
Some members of this site are down right ignorant, ill mannered and rude to people asking advice or giving their point of view. Just because you have been a member since the year dot and have 5000+ posts does not give you the right to cut someone down, be impolite and unmannered. A lot of people have stated they don't use this site anymore because of this and that is just terrible, people wanting help will not post a thread because they are scared of the rude or else joking response.
I have just read a post about Asda, the op is jumped by some twit because it was posted in the wrong bit of the forum, he is rude and very short, a little bit of manners go a long way.
Yes if someone makes a mistake or posts something in an inappropriate place then by all means tell them but do it in a polite and courteous way. Why be so negative, nasty and rude??

Forums have people on it. The real world has nasty people in it some of these frequent these boards its also far easy to sit behind a keyboard and either be rude, or insult people, sometime people get the wrong end of the stick due to laziness of the person which may be conceived as rude

You have to get use to it, if you dont perhaps forums of any type arent best for you

he basicaly pointed out that it was the wrong part of the forum (yes he could have been abit nicer ) the op then went of on one so it was half of one and a dozen of the other
Replies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you

Is this the thread in question? If so, I agree, all the posters are as bad (or not!) as each other.

This thread is both original and refreshing. Whilst you're at it, Victoria, can you please make a thread entitled "OMG SHOP WONT GIVE ME REFUND" and another one entitled "FOUND MEAT IN MY VEGEBURGER WOT R MY RIGHTS?" and we'll have loads of new content thanks to you.

In all seriousness, this is the internet. Everyone's a superhero. You included.

OP, I agree to some extent. Some people are very dismissive and abrasive snd don't add anything constructive to a thread. They are just posting to wind people up. However, I do think that these people are massively outnumbered on MSE by supportive folk who give really sound advice.

Much to my surprise, though, I even agree with Proc a bit - there are loads of threads from new posters who haven't used the search facility, don't write in decent English or give much info, or whose complaint is just plain daft. No need to be rude about it though, there are lots of polite ways to tell them to do one.
