  • Opinions, Have jsut upgraded my phone (to a Blackberry Curve 85 something or another) and taken out insurance £6.99 per month. (old bill 35 quid, new one 20.00 plus the 6.99..............)

I can feel the looks of horror and disgust!

Is this a bad idea? I mean the phone is worth about 200 pounds?

I can cancel after 3 months. I am a big risk of theft tho in a school?

    what do we think?

Put your sim card in your old phone and sell the new one to payy off debt. Of course this then means you can't cancel the contract....

Good thinking, that way you won't need the insurance either, unless its the facilities the phone has that you went for.

You have just caught up a lot esp paying your mum, otherwise you wouldn't need the cc this month. Don't beat yourself up but I know it is mentioned on a regular basis (not just on your thread) about comfort buying whether it be food, clothes or just random stuff.

Rather than thinking a month at a time which makes the whole don't buy things a major issue - like no chocolate makes you crave it - can you not do this based on a week at a time, knowing that some weeks you will have somethings you NEED to buy like a wedding gift etc so you don't beat yourself up.

Sorry that was waffly, but I hope you understand what I mean. x

I can't sell the new phone I need it, my current phone is so unreliable - I have had it for about 3-4 years, it is finally giving up the ghost! I would rather not have the insurance but I am open to a lot theft at both work places. I am pleased with the deal I think I have a look round for cheaper insurance?

Talking of chocolate it has been one month today since I had any chocolate. I was only going to go for a month without it but now I am considering not eating it for a bit longer. I miss it but I have noticed I am more naturally tired and less shaky. I also eat a wider variety of food.

I was having a wobble earlier - read a very depressing article about fertility. I am not going to dwell it tonight I am tired - worked very late last night and not in the right frame of mind to make plan!

Turns out I overpaid Mum! she owes me 35 quid - 1 and half driving lessons! So that is good.

I can also sell my old phone for between 40 -50 quid which is a result and I still have my CD's to sell

Today has been a long day but I am better off then I was yesterday!

    perky thoughts everyone

Woohoo, a refund and money for your old phone :j

Thats 4 weeks of driving lessons you don't need to find! Dont forget the sign up cash back. I've found one at £3.80 for a new customer for recycling a phone.

Check your household insurance to see if it covers your phone....most of the specific phone insurances are a rip off to be honest.

You may need to specify the phone on the house insurance, or you will need to have personal effects away from home cover.

The difference with mobile phone insurance is that if someone gets a chance to run up a big bill that is also covered, but with house insurance its just the value of the phone itself.

Another thing is that if you claim off house ins it affects the whole house premium (and theft claim is a pain on your claims records) but if you have mobile phone ins it does not.

Sorry - can you tell I did insurance for 18 years

Carboot was a great success, my mum is now addicted - made almost £80 between us after entry etc, I have a feeling we will do some more!
