Need an industrial shredder too for all the confidential stuff that needs disposing of

I was in the same position last year - bought one of those metal incinerator things from B&Q (a bit like a metal dustbin) and DS1 was put in charge. He loved it and I got rid of all the stuff. There'll be another load to do in the summer, I think.

I'll join you for the HHC - will hoover, do some dishes and clear some clothes. Thanks for getting me going again.

Do you have an open fire/woodburner? We use that stuff for firelighting and it's totally confidential.

Today DH has mowed the lawn, cleaned the kitchen, bathroom and loo. He has also done our bedroom. I've done three loads of washing and acres of marking (£125 worth)

Career minded people, a promotion possibility has come up, for which I am fairly qualified, but don't enormously want.

Do I apply to show my interest in promotions in general?? If offered it I would take it, but with a sinking heart. Its middle management, which I have some years' experience of, but not since the DDs were born.

Triker - well done on the decluttering - as for the paperwork, as several others have said, burn it. If you don't have a bonfire/incinerator/bbq/fireplace/stove, then find someone who does and borrow it.

Grateful - if you don't want a promotion, don't go for it. If anyone asks why, the timing isn't right.

Finally tackling my bedroom - winter suits now in spare room wardrobe, summer clothes slowly going into bedroom wardrobe. Hopefully I can get the surfaces clear and give it it's first really thorough clean in weeks.

Hi, yes we have an open fire in the living room but the paper tends to clog the chimney up....there's loads.:o

In my HHC I sorted 3 bedroom drawers and filled another binbag for the car boot.

Also got a bundle of clothes for rags.

Also put some lumpy bedding and throws away.

    I'm having a rest now.:D

If you don't want middle management then don't bother, remember they tend to want at least a job and a half if not two jobs for the salary of one.....plus there appears to be an unwritten rule that 'working hours' become very extended.

Don't feel pressured and remember as things are going for us 'professional's' (ha) our salaries will be stretched beyond belief as National Insurance is due to go up as is tax and salaries in the public sector will be frozen or will see very little gain at all in the ensuing years....;)

I take it you're doing a car boot tomorrow? Can I suggest, in the interests of decluttering, that when you are packing up you divide the leftovers into charity shop and next car boot... and drop the charity stuff of as soon as possible? You've got plenty more stuff to car boot after all... and don't want to wear yourself out

How about stacking the paper in a basket/box by the fireplace, and agreeing to have a fire in the evenings if it's chilly (like tonight!). Just use the paper to light it each time, and slowly you should manage to work your way through it, and at least it is out of the way till you can do something more drastic.

Don't overdo things - but hopefully all this clearing out will help you to feel better.

Clothes nearly all put away now. I can't believe I put it off for so long when it's taking so little time in the end!

More specifically, an Ikea Aneboda wardrobe that's due for demolition? If you have, could I have the 2 small white clips that hold up the dress rail?

We wondered what the funny thudding noise was t'other night. It was one of the clips giving way and my clothes going thud to the floor of said wardrobe. Dunno whether to :D or  or  So, is that a sign from the gods of ebay to get on with the listings?

I've ironed 4 skirts and 5 tops ready for next week, and 3 shirts for OH for his meetings next week. So that should be ironing out the way for most of the week :D (I only do it as I need it, as it just gets creased again in the wardrobe otherwise).

Is there more footy on tonight? What time? I'm just planning an uninterrupted soak in a bubble bath with a glass of wine ;)

Next, have to hang up towels but not sure if it's worth hanging them outside for a bit... spose it's better than inside.

Then will cook dinner, eat, drink wine, soak in the bath, and read a book.

I dunno what type that particular wardrobe is, but you can get new bits to support the rails generally - b&q do some (you can also get an extra middle support bit if you've got loads of clothes on it too - as that's what we got for our Argos wardrobes).
