Exactly, he has always been a bit odd.

They are home and it's finally been let off it's chain.

Terribly sorry Mr Tropez Sir. :o
I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)

As of the last count I have cleared
    [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt. :(

Frustrating isn't it, you can chain a dog all day every day in a 3.5-walled shed and not give it one moments worth of love or attention and it's not even always illegal!

Hey nurse, presuming you are indeed a nurse (after calling Tropez a lady I'm taking nothing for granted) then you're quite bright and used to tricky conversations. Which of the basic needs of this dog can you confidently argue he's not meeting? Because that's the boxes the RSPCA need to get ticked...

Provide a proper diet (food and water.
If the dog can't reach thier water bowl for several hours a day that'd be illegal.
Give them somewhere suitable to live.
If the kennel/enclusure was muddy, shttty, leaked water in the rain or open to the prevailing winds that'd also be illegal.
Meet animals' needs to be housed with, or apart from, other animals.
Bingo, what have the Husky breed association got to say about sociability? Can you back up what we all know to be true with some cold hard evidence like a quote from them? There has got to be a breed association?
Allow them to express normal behaviour.
No bells are riging for me on this one as of yet since normal behaviour in Siberia would mean being chained up for long periods, albeit with company (we already covered company). Not sure how else one could interpret that one. Anyone?
Protect them from pain, suffering, injury and disease.
Standing round in a shtty puddle has to be a disease threat. Leaving chained and unattended could possibly be an injury risk , especially when you add the complication that the dog is obviously suffering emotional distress.

I get so so angry when i read posts about dogs treated like this. What the hell is the point of having a dog, feeding it so you don't actually break the law,and THAT'S IT!! What on earth do they get out of that relationship? A dog craves human company.Even if it was indoors and didn't get walked at least it would have that company.I cannot get my head round it at all.Like most people, when i had my dogs they were as much a part of the family and household as the children.

Please posters, please get those poor dogs out of their miserable existence.I support the RSPCA but sometimes wonder why, though without them the world would truly be an even worse place for animals than it is now.

In the case of back yard breeders, they get money! The less they do to support and look after the dog the higher their profits are. If Tesco were allowed to sell cheap mouldy products off the back of a lorry under the guise of 'finest' I'm sure their profits would be up as well - same principle.

Gaby have a look at the RSPCA's website where it says about what the law is (quoted and linked in a post on page 1) and see if you can identify any of the basic needs/entitlements that are not getting met for these dogs. Otherwise the RSPCA are likely to tell you you have no case.

The environmental health might be able to help by clamping down on the barking issue (which sometimes provokes a bad owner to pay more attention to thier pets needs).

Thanks have had a look..unfortunatly it doesn't really help with those points as they are fed and watered..from what i can see..they have a kennel if not great but my annoyance is the fact there are 2 of them cramped up in a small homemade pen with a gate up so no room to run around..they go mad all day jumping and whining. I think all dogs should be walked every day if not able to take them out..annoys me. The barking yesterday was the first time they have gone that mad ever so will now keep an eye on it and report them for noise if anything else.

This dog is obviously being mistreated by what you say and hopefully the RSPCA will do something about it. On the point however with dog walking, not seeing people walk a dog doesnt always mean the dogs arent being walked. We tend to walk ouirs late in the evening and when I say late I mean about 10pm and later. It's cooler and usually no other dogs so ours can have a really good run without their lead. I doubt many people see us walk our dogs at night because of the time.

I have never seen my neighbour walk his dog, and while I believe he doesnt at all I cant accuse him of it as he may well be the same as us too early and to late for me to notice.

I reported a neighbours dog a few year ago as it was permanently on a 2m chain with only a door leaned against a wall for shelter - never any contact/exercise. RSPCA tried to 'educate' the owners but little changed and they were not breaking the law so dog could not be taken.

In the end we contacted a rescue specific to the breed who visited and persuaded them to hand it over for re-homing! Good result in the end.

Can you check for local husky rescue and express your concern?

Siberian Husky Welfare Association or Huskies in Need.
I doubt the owner will just give her up to rescue though, because she 'owes them money'!
