Neighbours dog doesn't get walked

All these BYB make me feel ill, even worse is people fall for it and buy puppies from anyone for hundreds of pounds, only to find out the bitch was too weak to produce a litter and their pup has illnesses, which of course the 'breeder' doesn't care about. No contract. No hip and eye scores from the parents. It's disgusting that people can do it.
Breeders should NOT make money from a litter, the cost of bringing up the bitch properly and caring for the puppies for the minimum 8 weeks is very expensive.
If I were you I'd ask the neighbour what they know about breeding, if she has been hip and eye scored or not (as Huskies are prone to displaysia and various eye problems), and whether she's a pure Siberian Husky with KC papers.
Unfortunately there's not much else you can do to stop it apart from putting a sign in your own garden saying 'Don't buy pups from next door!'.Trev. Having an out-of-money experience!
C'MON! Let's get this debt sorted!!0 -

Thanks for that, I'll get onto them again. I ring them at least twice monthly and they usually say something along the lines of it is not in distress so they cannot do anything about it. It is an Old English Sheepdog and it's coat is so matted it is untrue.Added to that, it barks a lot during the night so have been in touch with Environmental Health who came out to investigate not just the noise, but the state of the garden as well. They also have notified the RSPCA about the state of the garden the dog is living in but still they are not interested.
(PS - Sorry OP for hijacking your thread a bit - hopefully we can both get something done about these poor dogs).0 -
Do follow it up with them. Like the other person who said thier whippets were the subject of a false report so has my collie been- on several occasions. I keep the previous case references on a bit of card in a drawer now to pass the next inspector for the notes to be linked. Sad isn't it. My collie gets reported because he is a squeaker, he always has been, he makes a range of whiny noises even when wagging his tail. It's just him. He is just a very vocal boy. We've lived in many different houses since I've had him (he's 10) and at practically all of them I've answered the door to the RSPCA. I've been in this new house a year now, perhaps my neighbours here are animal haters because no ones tried to save him from me yet!
This is precisely the trouble the RSPCA suffer with though. There are so many people who don't know what they are looking at (like Tropez' whippets or my collie) then leap to rescue an animal who was thriving. That clogs the whole system up for genuine complaints.
They are then also up against the additional hurdle of the law really not being strong enough to catch all miseries and so they are often called to a case that is morally wrong, but not illegal. I am concerned the neighbours husky might be one of those, but if you don't try you don't know and her living conditions appear truly miserable and immoral from what I've read.I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)
As of the last count I have cleared [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt.

I just spotted this thread and thought i should add my neighbours dog has been barking pretty much no stop since we returned home this afternoon about 4pm. I got so fed up of it in the end i ended up coming in which annoyed me as a lovely sunny day..only thing it was too hot so poss saved me from becoming sunburnt again!
The 2 dogs live in a small homemade area with a kennel type home which is gated off..they never seem to come out and when they have escaped from getting feds up one of the owners comes out and shoves them back in shouting at them. I saw this when we first moved in and the (i assume) RSPCA came out..i am guessing nothing was done though as nothing has changed.
I am going to call the RSPCA tom as tbh think they way they live is attrocious..i thought about this a couple of days ago as the family were away so i monitered them..they had parents come in and do nothing by the looks of it..the only reason they were in the garden was to have a quick fag and went back in again..disgusting. I don't particualrly like dogs but tbh surely the least they could do is walk them and let them run round the garden?
OP i hope there is a good result at the end of it all..x0 -
Gaby have a look at the RSPCA's website where it says about what the law is (quoted and linked in a post on page 1) and see if you can identify any of the basic needs/entitlements that are not getting met for these dogs. Otherwise the RSPCA are likely to tell you you have no case.
The environmental health might be able to help by clamping down on the barking issue (which sometimes provokes a bad owner to pay more attention to thier pets needs).I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.

Well the poor dog is still chained up.
I went out to see it earlier and it had obviously been suffering from diarrhoea. The own came out, sprayed it all with a hosepipe and just went back out again.
So instead of cleaning it, the whole part of the ground the dog has to sit in was swimming in faeces and water.
I hope they come and pay them a visit soon.0 -
Are the owners approachable? Do you think they're doing it to be deliberately cruel or could it be possible that they're not aware of the dogs needs?
I'm just wondering if it would be possible to have a word with them and gently push them towards thinking about the dogs needs exercise wise ect?
edit- failing that, how secure is their garden? Any chance the dog could 'escape'?0 -
Get back on the RSPCA and kick up the biggest fuss. This is just making me really angry. Refuse to take no for an answer.
I would not approach the owner as they seem like total morons.0 -

Ruffles I can not imagine what you could possibly mean, surely you wrote this in error dear. :A
Oh and by the way I'm going out for an hour, please watch the house. Teaspoons are in the drawer by the fridge, there are biccies in the red tin and there's a full toolkit under the sink. Ta raa :AI refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.

Two words: Video Camera.
If those words sound tricky here's two more: Your Phone. :AI refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
