would be intrigued to know how to 'get round' P2P throttling!!!

Use p2p programs that encrypt their data packets like uTorrent.
  • we are with homecall (now part of pipex) and have had no probs at all in last 2 years - recent upgrade (since being taken over by pipex) was seamless - now get unltd up to 8mb mbband, line rental and unltd uk calls for £29.99pcm - bband upgrade took less than a week to take effect.

Interesting you use the word "seamless".I distinctly remember when i swopped from Bt to Homecall (now Homecall Pipex) it took 3 weeks-with no broadband access. When i complained they stated "it isnt seamless"-your not kidding.Thats certainly a restrained way of putting it.My advice...run..run like the wind!

Was with Pipex for about 3 years & the actual Broadband service was fast & reliable but the customer service is non existant.

The final straw was when we moved I was advised we could keep our special negotiated deal but once we had moved they refused & wanted to put us on one of the new plans which was the same cost but with 1 e-mail address!

Have been on BT for about 6 months now at £14.99 plus wireless router & has been very good.

I'm thinking of switching to Pipex for my broadband and calls, does anybody have any experience good or bad of them?

I had an okay although quite expensive service for quite a while but fell out with their billing department when i wanted to change provider. Up until that point customer service had been good.

I'm with plusnet at the moment for calls and broadband. Cracking company with fantastic online tools ut I've got a few shares in the company so I would say that :)

Can't agree with Arkad about CS - unless quite good = 4 calls to 0845 number, hanging on for 10 mins only then to be told there were too many calls in the queue and to call back later.
I was with them for 3yrs, at first they were good but not in recent times, as deebee says - !!!!!!. Lots of complaints on these threads about the phone service too.

I moved to ID Net [excellent so far] but they don't do phones. Why not have a look at madasafish? Their CS posts on here as well as on the forums at https://www.adslguide.org - a good place to get a feel for any ISP you're thinking of as is https://www.ispreview.co.uk.

Unless things have changed recently I'd be a bit worried about thus plusnet shares arkad - the natives there are rather restless!!

I cancelled with Pipex over a year ago and they were okay up to then. Maybe I just got lucky.

Those shares were the first I bought to force me to learn more about the stock market. You're right, Ian, I lost a fair bit on them but they started to recover the other week amid rumours of a takeover. I bought for £2.50 and they went as low as £1.00. They're around £2.00 now and i'm hoping (maybe naively) they'll get to £3.00.

I've never used but looking at online reviews they seem to be very good. Every single ISP will receive some gripes, some rightfully & some wrongfully, but over all Pipex seem to do better than average.
