Hi shammyjack
What would you go for0 -
OK , that post wasn't helpfull.
Register on http://www.adslguide.org/ and browse the forums .
The general concensus of opinion is that most packages are problematic and have poor speeds .
Unfortunately you get what you pay for , BT phone line and use 1899.com for landline calls and 18185.com for calls to mobiles plus a good ISP such as IDnet or Namesco seems the best bet but not the cheapest .

Hi shammyjack
I will have a look at the website what I would really like to do is keep the phone & broadband together and have a free call option thought about talk talk but bad press0 -
avoid Pipex at all costs, really poor service, rip-off company, interested in new customers, and no benefits to existing ones - have a search on here for Pipex and you will see what I mean, I am with them at the moment, and will be swicthing as soon as my contract ends0

Been with pipex for 3 years...got my MAC off them and moving away from them. In the early days they had good reviews, now they are dire (or I should say they have been dire for at least the last 12 months).
OK, I could have moved provider earlier, but I wrongly assumed they would treat existing customers better.
ATM, they restrict file sharing speed (P2P) and restrict newsgroup download speed as well (unless you pay more).
My recent expreience of ringing (anti) customer support ended in me waiting 10 minutes just to be cut off. Emailing customer support is just as bad. I emailed them on the 1 August asking what deals they had for existing customers and had a standard response on the 3 August, I responded the same day but had to wait until the 9 August for a reply. I again responded the same day and had to wait until the 14 August for the next response, which I then had a telephone converastion where I requested the MAC and was told I would receive it within 72 hours. On the 22 I emailed them asking for my code and complaints department details...I got my MAC the next day...still waiting for the address of complaints department.
Basically, if you do any file sharing, access news groups or need to ring customer services avoid like the plauge.Welcome, rogerramjet.

As others have said, Pipex was pretty good once but they have gone rapidly downhill over the past year. Their purchase of the Homecall company (now called Pipex Homecall) has resulted in several mis-selling scams but the main problem is that Pipex cuts prices to attract new customers but they ignore existing customers to such an extent that you can find you are paying well-over the odds for a mediocre service. As Pipex grows and diversifies it appears to have cut back on customer service and goodness knows what those dreadful Pipex TV adverts are costing.
Because the UK broadband market is truly all over the place it would be best I think to stand back and wait a couple of months. There is no guarantee at the moment that a broadband provider will continue to provide a reasonable service.0 -
Hi
I don’t think I will go with pipex looking at virgin.net plan 2 anybody got any thoughts?0 -
If you value your sanity do not go with Pipex! Awful contested service, ultra slow d/l speeds. Basically if you want to surf and read emails, fine. For anything else, forget it.
Good luck if you try and migrate away! They're still billing me 2 months after I left! I can't get them to cease billing my account! It's a nightmare!
Pipex are the spawn of satan!Blessed are the geeks, for they shall inherit the Internet.0 -
would be intrigued to know how to 'get round' P2P throttling!!!0
