You could do a sneaky on the sky too.. Send a typed letter acking them to terminate the contract on a certain date.. and sort out setting up a new one in your name only. Or let it default.. it'll be him they go after not you.. it is in his name!
They can set up the new account in less than 24 hours so yo'd not be long without it really.
