Contact Trading Standards via the Consumer Direct number 08454 04 05 06.

They get the numbers from the Electoral List which shows people who cannot do jury duty - that is over 70 years old - which is their target market. To be honest with you, these companies really do not give a toss. They are not medically trained - they are trained to pressure sell goods to the elderly and not leave until they have taken the maximum they can from the person. I hope your stepmum can get some recourse through Trading Standards. I am glad it was 'only' £150 as these companies will take your life savings if they can - a mark up of a thousand per cent is not unusual.

Interesting. No track on these guys yet, but I have tonnes of stuff to send to Trading Standards & The Insovency Service. I understand from the former that all enquiries to PC Ensor are being forwarded to Trading Standards.

The listed propietor of Lifestyle, David Messom, has no assets, so it not worth persuing for any monies owed. All parties will try, however, to prove the Gills had overall control of the business. At that point there may be a slim hope of getting something back.

    Pablo...

PC Ensor told me that the new company is in the name of an employee of Gill's former company, but that Gill is still behind it all.

PC Ensor also told me that these matter are being dealt with by a Mr. Howard at Notts Trading Standards.

Remember, Gill is also bankrupt and if he is inolved in any business, he should be telling the Insolvency Service.

I don't think PC Ensor has much of a role in all this - it really is down to Trading Standards. PC Ensor was unaware of Alan Frettingham's conviction and 3.5 years jail term.

I have been told by PC Shelagh Ensor that a new company (Red National) how now been set up by the same people.

This is all very interesting. I had an interview earlier this week for the position of "Mobility Advisor" for Red National. I decided to do a bit of back ground research into Red National and came across the Watchdog report for Virgo Healthcare. Similarities between the two companies seemed immediately apparent. The “mole” trainee salesman used in the watchdog investigation talked about having 3 mornings of training before going on to shadow a salesman in action. The same procedure for new recruits was explained to me by a current trainee salesman at the companies’ base earlier this week. It seems Virgo Healthcare was based in Long Eaton, just a few miles away from Red Nationals shiny new base in East Leak, just north of Loughborough. I have no doubt that Virgo Healthcare now operate under the name of Red National.

At the interview I was told the company was only set up last week, yet the manager interviewing me had clearly had a lot of experience with mobility sales. It definitely seemed to be a very slick operation considering Red National is such a young company. The people involved have clearly had a lot of prior experience within this industry. I’m waiting on a phone call to see whether or not I have the job but I’m definitely having second thoughts after reading all this.

  • An Elderly relative (85) paid Red National (Mr Routh) £1300 for a Mattress in June this year. This was after a lengthly home visit where the salesman (Jonathan Robotham) managed to wear him down to the point that he agreed to hand over two post dated cheques as he did not have the funds in total until after his pension was paid into his account later in the month. Guess what? Red National have not been in contact or contactable since they cashed his cheques and no mattress has arrived!
I have read with interest the comments on this forum. I have managed to track down Mr Rouths current address and will be paying him a visit over the next few days to see if we can't resolve this matter.
Red National are no longer trading from Lighting House, East Leake
