I sent an item to the wrong address

I sent an item (tickets) to the address ebay gave me. The buyer says this isn't her address and the event is tomorrow. Is there anything I can do? Whose fault is this?
I sent it special delivery, can Royal Mail help me? Or should I contact ebay?

you did not do anything wrong, you sent the tickets to someone who must have lived at that address at some point, but they forgot to change their address in eBay, its their fault imo. The RM will send it back to sender unless someone signs for itExcel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -

Can you get onto the event organisers and explain the tickets have been lost and can they issue replacements(to be collected at the door), there may be a small charge but I think it can be done.0 -
In fact you are meant to send the item only to the address that Ebay or Paypal give you so this is not your fault at all. Its the persons fault for not changing their address with Ebay/Paypal therefore it is now upto them to go to the old address and reclaim the tickets from there. Well done for sending them Special Delivery also - I doubt Royal Mail can do much however because they have probably delivered to the address provided. The fault lies completely with the buyer IMOBSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0

I'm an idiot. if I'd have put the return address on the item I would have got it back by now

I'm not sure if contacting the organisers would help? They won't have much sympathy for someone selling their tickets on ebay surely?0 -
It's 100% not your fault; the buyer should have updated their address.
I would send the buyer a message ASAP saying you were only permitted to send to their ebay address, which was listed as <address>, so perhaps they should contact their old address to get the tickets.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Why would you have to tell them?just say they have been lost - people lose things all the time!!
Ebay should be able to give you the telephone number of the address they gave you so you could ring to see if they have them.Perhaps they might be prepared to forward them on for you.
Have you checked to see if they have been signed for?0 -

I didn't buy the tickets though, would they replace comp ones?
It's too late, I contacted royal mail the tickets are on their way to Belfast.0 -

I don't know but you can only ask.
As others have said if Ebay have given you the wrong address it is not your fault. Was it completely wrong or an old address of the buyer? If the buyer has not updated the address then again it is their own fault. Let Ebay sort the mess out.0 -

I don't know. She asked me what address I used, after I'd sent the tickets, and said 'that's not my address!' I can't imagine ebay would make it up!
Ergh what a mess. Thanks everyone for your help.0 -
Take a screen shot of the order with the address on (and the PP one if you can). Email them to her.
Despite this, the buyer will still be able to do a INR as she has not received the items.
I would imagine you have a good chance of tracking down the parcel as you have an SD tracking number. However, this isn't going to get the tickets delivered in time.
You may still be able to salvage something with the venue/organisers direct, worth a try.0
