Board Reorganisation - let it rip

Martin - great site! The advice is second to none and the community feel is fantastic.

Today is my first day on the board and it seems fairly straight forward and I've found my way around okay. I'm slighly overwhelmed by the number of threads and some of the subjects (do we really need 'health' and 'marriage and relationships' on a moneysaving board?), but really like the Quick forum thingy at the bottom.

I do find the two boxes at the top of every page - 'Welcome' and 'Important major change' really frustrating. It's also a pain having to scroll down to find the information you want.

The overall look of the site I find a bit chaotic and overly busy, a bit stressful in fact.

To end on a postive note though, I bought your book a few weeks ago and have already sorted out my credit cards and telephone. Car insurance is up in March, so I'll be starting my research shortly.

Come on traf. You'll get used to it. Does anyone remember the 'left hand bar' being introduced - give it two weeks.... then we can discuss it again. Deal?

Mrs T. Welcome on board. Don't worry about the 'MAJOR CHANGE' box. That'll be going in a week after the server change. Remember the majority of users have been on for a while and the change is substantial so we need to make sure everyone can handle it. Many are still coming on here for the first time.

As for boards like marriage - well MoneySaving weddings is one of the most popular discussions we've had. Weddings, family, health etc are all major financial issues.

However thats not the only reason. These boards have become a community of people addressing a wide range of issues and so its a nice place for peopel to discuss wider issues. This is all about a community of MoneySavers, and like all communities while it has a focus, people lives grow in many sectors

I'd like to see the What freebies did you receive today thread back at the top of the freebies board. At the moment it's hidden away in freebies gone but not forgotten. Most of them are current and I've noticed that not many people are posting on there anymore. I like to see what everyone gets.

Seriously, why not just subscribe to it by e-mail?

Any chance of being able to read the last however many posts by any chance? Or am I going down the same road as Traf?

I've just split off the part of the thread about changing email subscription and put it here. I know it's sometimes quite hard to follow a split thread but I also know a lot of people will want to know about the reason for the changes - and I wanted to keep this on topic
