That would be to your own taste really! Tea loaf is nice enough on its own but i was rared to eat it smothered with butter! Toasted can be nice too with butter of course

Eat it with boiled eggs if so takes your fancy !:D:pA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

I guess it depends on the recipe and how moist the tealoaf is. Most should be moist because of the plumped up fruit .
I remember putting butter on a coconut finger once and the person who was with me recoiling in horror!:oA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Just bumping this in case newbies/others haven't seen it, and to say I've made four more loaves this morning.
Added chopped cherries/dried apricots to one, sprinkled the top of another with flaked almonds and a row of halved walnuts, the third I left plain and the fourth I put a layer of marzipan through the middle. If it works I'll add a layer to the top and decorate, it'll be a very MS 'simnel' lookalike
I love this recipe!

Looking for a brownie recipe, it's asking for 'cocoa', is this the same as drinking chocolate?
Sorry if that's a daft question
Also, does anyone have a recipe for a fruit loaf type cake thing? Everything I've read calls for the dried fruit to be soaked in tea overnight, but I remember making a fruit loaf with my granny and she never used tea.... any ideas?
Thanks
Can't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
No, cocoa & drinking chocolate aren't the same....drinking choc has sugar added.0

No it isn't the same unfortunately.
I make a boiled fruit cake - this one is very nice:

Cocoa will give you a more intense, dark, chocolate colour and flavour to your brownies. I don't think drinking chocolate would quite work.I'm so sorry if you were enjoying this thread and mine is the last post!!
I seem to have a nasty habit of killing threads!
