When you open the stock browser, go to menu - settings - and deselect the box for automatically go to mobile version of the website. Then go to Facebook and see if it sorts the problem. If it does then I think the problem is with the mobile version of Facebook. I can try it as I don't use Facebook, but will check it out on wifes account when my wife returns home.bubblesmoney :hello:0

Hi, just thought I'd drop by and say I've tried your suggestions but it hasn't made one jot of difference to my phone.
Signal is still poor (on O2) and battery life is atrocious. IMO the battery issue ruins a very good phone. Quite how TechRadar, T3 and other technology sites can paper over this issue as a minor flaw is beyond me. I have to turn all updates off and only use my phone when absolutely necessary to get it to last a day at work. HTC have released a phone with a not fit for purpose battery and it totally ruins my enjoyment of an otherwise brilliant piece of kit!!

Have you tried one of the Android apps like Quick settings that enable turning off of non needed items .
On my Samsung Galaxy (similar phone and battery ) i have GPS and Mobile data off until required likewise background data sync is off until required .
Battery life as a phone is about 4 days power apps used bring the battery down quicker but not to ab unmanageable extent .
I ran a test showing battery drained 1% overnight and a further 2%-4% per six hours daytime traveling .

True however Apple got aware with it with their iPhone. The battery on that was poor, same as desire but people ended up putting up with it.
I couldn't. And couldn't deal with the signal issue. And have def decided I can't type on a screen and need a physical keyboard so sent mine back.0 -

Battery life will be poor if the signal is poor because the phone will have to use more power to boost the weak signal or constantly looking for a better signal.
If you see my thread titled "3g coverage maps for UK", then you will find the link to the 3g coverage maps of the UK and you will find the ofcom data that shows that in 2009 O2 network had the worst 3g coverage maps for the UK. Consequently since you are on that network and if you live in a weak signal area then your battery life will be very poor.
When I work in a poor signal area my battery life is poor too but in a good signal area depending on how much I use the phone I can easily get more than a day and have got more than 2 days as well.
Use "power control widget" that you will already have on your phone. See prev posts by me about power control widget by doing a search on the forum if you don't know how to get the widget.
Also do battery calibration, see prev posts by me on it with links.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -

There are quite a few handsets from several manufacturers with hardware keyboards. See the new desire z or Motorola handset if it suits your needs. I have used Nokia phones with keyboards but they were a pain to use similar to the blackberry in my opinion. I feel the keyboards on the HTC desire z looks a lot more ergonomic but have yet to try it but have seen a few videos of it. There are some comparison reviews for hardware keyboard phones which I read recently. Check such reviews.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -
Yeah was thinking about the Z when I heard about it. Currently still enjoy the keyboard on my Nokia E71.0

Thanks for this onteresting thread... I've read on the Android Forum about using the PRL setting but no one explained what it did.0

I too had trouble with the signal strength on my HTC Desire HD, I have followed your instructions page 2 #33 and I now have a full 4 bars showing on my screen.
Thanks for your help. tornum.0
