Hi, I have just contacted CCCS to set up a DMP. I set up a cashminder account yesterday. I have 7 creditors including my bank (overdraft)
I know from reading previous posts that certain creditors are difficult to deal with and was hoping someone could advise me if I should expect this from mine:
Santander overdraft 1400
Capital One 800
Wonga 1200
EOS Solutions ( Freemans) 900
Payday UK 470
Very 475
1st Credit 890
My biggest concern is that wonga and payday uk will continue to add the high interest0 -
Hi vickle
welcome to the club! there seems to be little rhyme and reason with many of the creditors - for example, Halifax have been utter hell for some people but for me, so far (touching wood here), have been fine.
The only one of yours that we have is Capital One, we have an account each with them, and they were great from the start, accepted the plan and, one year in, still have the % frozen.
To be honest, all the creditors will add some % and charges at the outset - you need to be prepared for the fact that what you owe will rise for a short period as this is their standard reaction. The best advice I can give is keep CCCS informed of everything but also to keep the lines of communication with the creditors open - don't be scared to contact them.
I see your concern with wonga and payday uk. I have no experience of these but I'm sure someone will be along shortly. You could also try doing a forum search using one of the drop down boxes near the top of the debt free wannabee page.

Hi all me and my husband are looking into a dmp after too many sleepless nights and burying our heads in the sand. I have done debt remedy on cccs roughly but waiting for all statements to come through. I have a couple of questions are cccs the best to go with?
how does a dmp work with varied wages hubby does roughly 10 hours overtime a week but this is not guarenteed.
I am guarrenteed 3 days at work 12 hours but sometimes can get upto 20 but dont work school holidays so wages got down to 8 hours per week.
Also i need a bank account not connected to llyodstsb, Halifax, barclays any ideas and how easy id this to do. Me and my husband are looking into getting a joint account as currently we are seperate.
Thanks for any advice im so scared about it all. My major concern in not wanting our children to suffer for our stupidity!!0 -
Hi Pumpkin Soup
Welcome. Personally we've found CCCS to be fabulous - some other people have found Payplan to also be fabulous. I'd say if you've got started with CCCS, stick with them!
Getting the DMP set up with variable hours of overtime can take a little longer - for us they took my partner's wage slips for 3 or 4 months (I can't quite remember) and worked out an average overtime over that period and applied that amount - this has worked fine for us. Remember you can tweak your DMP as you go along to respond to changes in income.
We got a joint current account with Santander and we've got debts with your creditors too. It was fine although it was a nervous wait to see what happened after applying! I think we did it online.
Try not to be scared, you're facing up to the problem and making some good decisions about how best to manage it. Once it's all set up it does get easier.
Sit down with a cuppa and spend some time reading through this thread - there is so much knowledge here about DMPs, it's extremely useful.

Thank u ive read ur blogs also and already feel better. I even plucked up the courage to speak to my step dad about it all. Another couple of questions i have if u dont mind. should i be worried about opening a joint account as we have not yet defaulted. How do i change all my direct debits etc bit worried as one is for the morgage and is halifax coming out of halifax account. I want to start it all jan to get my statements etc together and new bank account wages tax credits moved. my stepdad has advised me not to pay any payments december to my debts as it seems pointless but i dont know what to do about that. many thanks in advance.0

Thanks for replying SAAC. Yes, we have spoken to Creation on numerous occasions. The last time a few days ago after their written decision regarding the complaint made to FOS. They just don't want to know. Their attitude stinks. One of the customer service peeps even said that the reason they do not stop interest is that they know to wait until the end of the DMP when the money will be available to pay them back the amount owed!! I was gobsmacked.
We are going to take it back to FOS and see what happens then. I will keep you updated.
Thanks again

Hi I rang coop and opened a cashminder account over the telephone. Once I got my account details and informed my work for my salary and tax credit etc I then I moved all my DD's myself by telephoning each company ie gas, water etc. Then I knew they were all done and only the companies I wanted to know my new details had them. Only took a day or so and all went smoothly. I rang a few days after the DD's had come out of my old account so everyone had a month to change my details0 -

Hi - I would send token payments to your creditors for December until your DMP is set up. £1 will be sufficint by postal order. (although I sent mine by cheque from my old account) but most people recommend a postal order.
Hope this helps0
