I've been on my DMP with the CCCS for almost four years - and I've now cleared one my credit cards!

I owed Mint almost £6,000 and last month's payment cleared it, which means more will be going towards my other credit cards.

It's not always been easy, but knowing I've paid back over £33,000 and now seen my first card back at zero makes me feel great!

    Debt Jan 2008: £45,566. *** June 2013: DEBT FREE! ***
Paid back just under £50,000 due to some interest added.

  • Hi vickle , when writing to your bank you don't have to go into deep explanations as to why you don't authorise a payment just give your account numbers and simply state you no longer wish to authorise payments to these companies.
I'm afraid I don't know how cccs work someone will come along shortly and give you more info. Hope this helps a little ,take care x

    Hi jes
well done on paying off one of your cards it's good to hear positive outcomes when on a dmp I'm in for the long haul (be using my pension to pay it off!!!!!!) but it's the best thing I've ever done .
Good luck on the rest of your journey ,I bet you can see light at the end of that long tunnel take care x
  • Hi vickle,

Write to your bank and basically you don't need to go into any details just tell them to not allow any payments to those organisations as you no longer authorise them. I would send this recorded delivery and ask for a written confirmation from the bank that they have carried out the action.

For CCCS, yes, it's a bit of a balancing act getting all the dates right - I remember it well. CCCS will wait for your paperwork, don't fret. (BTW, I don't know if you read my short blog about going on a DMP but it might be helpful, info can be found in my sig).

JESF1 - that is absolutely amazing, you must feel great. I'm looking forward to being in that position!

    Hey Fred,

BOS is one of ours, they've were incredibly disorganised in terms of paperwork but, we got everything resolved by keeping phone contact with them, and the staff were pleasant to deal with. They accepted the DMP and the % remains frozen at the mo.
  • Thanks for the all the advice. I sent all my DMP info off to CCCS this morning along with letters and token payments to all my creditors, I have also phoned them all to tell them about my DMP apart from Santander.

CCCS said they wont contact Santander until after my next payday and my Cashminder account is set up. I have also included a letter with my DMP documents telling them not to contact Santander just yet.

I am having difficulty finding a postal address for Santander, can anyone point me in the right direction please?
  • I am able to set up direct payments on my bank account to be sent on future dates. I was wondering if I do this now for my rent and council tax and one as soon as I have my cashminder account number to transfer the rest of my pay will these then get paid before Payday UK and possibly Wonga attempt to take what I owe them?????

    Sorry....so many questions!
  • Have unfortunately had to have my dog put to sleep on Thursday.Obviously this has cost money for which the vets have still to send the bill. Would I be able to reduce my DMP payment in December to help pay for this. I know that pet fees should be accounted for in my expenditure but that is for everyday costs and not one offs like this.
  • Scotty...so sorry to hear about your dog, thinking of you...hope that you can sort something out with your DMO compnay..

Yes, you will be able to reduce your payment. If you are with a DMP company, give them a call and explain the circustances and they will adjust payments etc on your behalf.
If you're self-managed then it's best to phone or write to your creditors so they are aware this is just a temporary reduction, not you giving up on your DMP.
Feel for you - bad enough to have to cope with the loss of your dog, without having the added worries of a DMP on top. I know how deeply the loss of a pet can affect you, but I know you did the best for your dog. It's worse to see them suffer.

  • Thanks for the messages of support. She was just shy of 16 years old and we had probably put off the inevitable for the last two months, but she collapsed late Thursday night and we knew then that the time had come. Any way will contact CCCS tomorrow.
