Hi pumpkin soup, don't get an automatic transfers of all your DDs - surely you have some creditor DDs in there? You do not want to take these with you to your new account.
When we set up our Santander acc they offered to transfer all our DDs from our old Halifax account - we nearly died of shock and then politely declined without letting the cat out of the bag!
Send token payments to your creditors, £1 by postal order, with a letter telling them you're in the process of setting up a DMP, ask them if they can freeze your account for 30 days and that you'll be back in touch with reference numbers etc once it's set up.0 -

Another couple of questions i have if u dont mind. should i be worried about opening a joint account as we have not yet defaulted. How do i change all my direct debits etc bit worried as one is for the morgage and is halifax coming out of halifax account. I want to start it all jan to get my statements etc together and new bank account wages tax credits moved. my stepdad has advised me not to pay any payments december to my debts as it seems pointless but i dont know what to do about that. many thanks in advance.
You should make token payments to each creditor, even if only £1. That way you're showing willing and not just avoiding your debt or creditors.DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
when letting creditors know that you are setting up a DMP, where do you send the letters?
Is it the address on the top of statements?
I will also be sending a token payment to a couple of creditors, who are due a payment soon, so i was thinking about send it with the letter, would that be ok sending it to the address at the top of the statements, since it gives a different address in the uk to send payments to?
there are far too many address0 -
LOL I am having no luck with bank accounts - even cashminder, which we applied for on Saturday over the phone, after they turned down current account, was deferred although girl on phone seemed to think it was because I applied on a Saturday...........still haven't heard yet!0

Hi, some advice needed please
I'm waiting for my Cashminder welcome pack to arrive. Can anyone advise how long this may take? Received an email from CCCS regarding my proposed DMP saying I need to provide
Direct Debit mandate
Photocopies of statements for each of your debts
Can I proceed before I have the new account with Cashminder set up and make a payment other than DD until it is? My current bank will be included as a creditor for my overdraft.
Also, I don't have anything other than an email of my loan agreements with Wonga and Payday Uk, is it ok to print these off to send?
I have just called Wonga, I am worried that they will take the payment next payday 30th November as new account with Cashminder is not yet set up. I was told that interest and charges will be suspended until they receive the relevant information from CCCS and that I have 38 days from today to get the information to them. I'm still worried that they will take the payment anyway which will basically be all my pay....I feel sick just thinking about that happening..my next payday after that is the end of December...0 -
