  • Well, they might grumble and complain but, in our experience, if they believe your situation (and this is helped by having CCCS or Payplan involved) then they'll eventually accept that this is what you've got to give and that's it. Some of ours are accepting £5pm on debts of £2-3k. Ultimately they can't have what you ain't got!

You can always increase your payment if it looks like you have got a bit more than you thought - this is very easy to do, we've tweaked ours upwards a few times now.
  • Any of the regulars fancy replying to this chap - I feel bad for him as I don't have anything particularly useful to say but he's going through the mill...

  • Hi
Just bobbing in to see that without this site and reading the experiences other people have had I wouldnt be feeling as good as I am now. so THANK YOU EVERYBODY. I have now become empowered to take control back and have started to move on positively.

I was drowning in debt and getting worse, kept having to take out payday loan after payday loan just to pay the interest off. However, after having the worse 3 weeks of my life, crying, headaches, mental breakdown so to speak I came on here and made my decision. I contacted CCS who have been great first payment made to them yesterday. Come to the conclusion that its just tough if my creditors dont agree "let them take me to court" I will only be able to offer what CCS have written to them to offer. (Never thought Id be able to say that without cringing). I stopped paying the payday loans and paid them back with an arrangement over 3 months - before my DMP started.

So with any luck I should be debt free in 6 years (sounds ok if you say it quick). Hopefully, I should be in receipt of some ppi off some loans if they come through it will take a year off my dmp, so fingers crossed. I did receive some ppi back last month and this brought all my priority bills up to date:T
All I can say is if anybody is wondering what to do, feeling like C***p as I was go for it. I havent felt this good in months.

    Sorry for the ramble.

    Michelle

Natwest are complete 'mares about eveything, we had the not recognising the DMP and adding interest on for the 1st year but the month after the 1 year anniversary of DMP they decided to stop interest, think they finally realised they were flogging a dead horse!!!! Flamin idiots:mad:
Fingers crossed they'll stop charging me interest too at some point. ive been on a dmp for over 3 years. wish they sent me statements, i just call every now and again for a new figure and it's usually gone up a random amount and thats all i know. another letter on the way i think.

  • Hey Michelle45 - well done, it's a great feeling to be in control and managing the debt instead of it managing you. The first few months of the DMP might be a bit bumpy but it's you're still getting control of it and, ultimately, the creditors can't have what you haven't got. Ours accepted the DMP (although some of them said they wouldn't) and the % was stopped. We've got a long journey but the stress and anxiety has been taken out of the situation and the debt is finally getting smaller!

    Hi Sickasachip
I thought my chosen name was bad :o, but I loved it when someone recently referred to you as 'sick' :D
One day when this is all over, I reckon it might be worth doing an in-depth study into the psychology behind our choice of names. :)
I love them all - the chirpy, upbeat ones to the 'OMG what the hell have I done' ones!
And who has a  of gold then? See there have been replies to this thread. Ain't it a wonderful thing that a bunch of complete strangers take the time and trouble to try and help others through their problems? :A
So let's all hang on in - 'One day we'll all be milionaires, Rodney' :rotfl:

  • Hi Everyone,

Still on DMP, still going ok. Am a bit worried about gas bills for the winter and the petrol prices but going to ebay anything that doesnt move in my house so hopefully that will help.

Stay strong everyone and thanks for the regulars for keeping us all sane - you do so much good work without realising it.

  • Hey Twit, we could form a union and double-barrel our names - Sick-Twit or Twit-Sick, it's catchy! I'm glad some other folks have chipped in to help the chappie I was referring to as I was feeling empathetic and inadequate at the same time.

Hi Hopeful, yes, the old fuel bills are scary as we descend into winter aren't they, we have the same worries. And petrol too - funny how all the prices rise and are blamed on 'oil prices' and yet when the oil drops in price the consumer never gets the full benefit..... must be an oversight huh? Surely our government would never condone such daylight robbery of ordinary folks......?!

    Never mind, there's always ebay!!!

Hi to all you wonderful people

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone for all the help and support I have during the past 4 years of being on a DMP.
We have approx 20 months left of payments and it feels great.
When we started the end of the DMP seemed a lifetime away, but gradually we realised our lives didn't have to stop ,it just needed to adjust. We have learned so much and there has been times that it just seemed too hard [car breaking down etc], however the good times have made up for it and it has been the best thing we have ever done.
Good luck to all the people starting out, the climb is worth it.
