  • Hi, would anyone be able to advise me on what the chances are of bailiffs coming to my home whilst on a DMP with payplan. I have had my telephone consultation with them and I think they just had to inform me of the worst case senario. She told my that they had good relations with my creditors (who are, Barclaycard, RBS, Tesco Loan, Tesco credit card, Debenhams mastercard, M & S Mastercard and NEXT) and that there isn't usually a problem.

The thing is that my husband doesn't know of my debts and if anyone came knocking on the door it would cause MAJOR problems. It's the only thing that is stopping me going ahead with the plan at the moment. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I feel very scared at the moment and very vulnerable. Thank you in advance.
  • Hello there :)
Just wanted to introduce myself, been lurking for a while!
I make my first payment to Payplan on 1st Sept and i am excited and scared! Pleased to be finally facing up to our debts, but scared of the damage it is going to do.
I was hoping to buy our first home in a few years but am thinking we will never get to own our own house :(

Our debts are around £19500 with a DFD of Dec 2013. Im working my bum off doing as much overtime as i can at the moment as want to be debtfree long before then!

You never can tell I don't think but it's highly unlikely. I've been on a DMP since 2008 and make reduced (extremely reduced in some cases) payments to my creditors and have never had anyone visit me. Either way I think you should fess up and tell your husband, you wouldn't be happy if it was the other way around, just assure him you're getting help. You married and should be able to share these things. A problem shared etc.....

If you're talking bailiffs, then definitely not. I believe they only turn up if you've broken the terms of any CCJs or Charging Orders that you may have. Or if you're behind on Council Tax payments.

    Hi there,

Firstly, this is a stressful time so it's a shame you can't share your difficulties with your husband - you know, if I was him, I'd rather know than find out unexpectedly sometime down the road.... anyhow, your business.

On the creditors, we've had no-one come to the door, we've been on the DMP for approaching a year. Of your creditors, we've experience of Barclaycard, RBS, Tesco CC and Next. Tesco and Next couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Barclaycard have been absolutely fine, RBS haven't been unpleasant but just really disorganised.

Going on the DMP was the best thing we could have done. Best of luck.

  • Oh yeah, that's what I meant to ask - does anyone know what the connection is between Blair, Oliver Scott and BLS.... are they just part of the same company? I've had a letter saying that a Bank of Scotland debt is moving from BOS to BLS and I'm wondering if there are any implications?

I believe BLS are inhouse for Lloyds TSB, who are in the same group as BOS, and obv Blair, Oliver Scott work with BOS, so it's all a bit incestuous. No idea how if will affect you though?

They are a very incestuous bunch and somewhere at the top of that unholy family are a small group of people making an awful lot of ££.....

I feel like a tennis ball being batted around :rotfl: but I'll just wait and see what happens next.
  • Can anyone tell me when you are on a DMP and get a pay rise how soon do you have to notify the company? xxx

Hi again Sam, I suppose you could tell them straight away but equally you could keep it quiet for a little while...my partner managed to get some overtime for a few months, we knew our review was coming so we just decided to tell CCCS at the point of review and, in the meantime, used the money to put a small lump sum towards our BT and electric bills as they were constantly running at a deficit even with our monthly payments. CCCS didn't query that we hadn't told them and, as the DMP isn't legally binding they could probably only express disapproval if anything.
