Hi everyone,
Has anyone had experience of trying to get a partners name removed from a joint bank account when the balance is in the overdraft?
Many thanks0 -
hey everyone.. sorry for the sporadic postings, but were still battling on ... last few months being rather hard, Mrs Spicy found out were expecting our second little spice, and were trying to maintain our standard of living.
No family holiday this year as have to plan for Maternity Leave reduction in household income.... however, plans are afoot for some "tax free cash"
.. on a lighter note, weve just hit a milestone .. officially paying off 1/3rd of out total debt.
Thanks also to Tesco Clubcard vouchers, we had a family day at Legoland last week for the princely sum of £14 for the 3 of us (and a 50% off voucher too) - Result !!LBM - Oct - 08 DMP Started - Feb -09

Well done you! To pay off 1/3rd must be such a boost
And Tesco clubcards are great for 'treats' etc. (I pay my RAC membership with mine)
Usually try to use the 'points boosters' (if you're going to buy something anyway) to build up more points without adding to Tesco's profits and my deficit
Trust Mrs S. and the 'bump' are keeping well

Hey look at you getting all techno savvy.
And another useful tip if you're new to this site -
If you want to add a 'signature' to your messages, log-in, click on 'user CP' (on the thick green bar beneath
the forum info.) Then click on 'edit signature' in the left hand panel.
You can then play nicely adding a little info.

Hi! Sorry we're not ignoring you, but probably no-one who has looked at the messages knows the answer yet.
I can't help you from personal experience but I believe you must have both partners agreement and signatures, to remove one of them from the account.
I also think if your partner is an 'ex' you should be aware you will still be liable for their debts.
Are you with a DMP company? Maybe ask them or even (shock horror ) enquire of your bank for guidance.
Hope you find an answer soon.

Nah - early days yet. Sent the letters recorded, awaiting responses.
But I can't believe how shaky I feel. Ain't no spring chicken and I was in this for the long haul, so I know deep down I should be thankful I'm now able to make these offers. But the money has come to me through the death of my Mum, and know which one I'd rather have with me today.
Sorry didn't mean to get maudlin
Thanks for asking, I will sure keep you updated.

Hi Twitty - I wish you the best of luck and success with your F & F's
. I feel for you because that is how I came into the money to do my F & F's too, and I know I'd rather have my mum here.
I've been working through two F & F's - one completed (yay!), the other I'm playing postal tennis with - they can't seem to put the words "full" and final" together on paper!!
