Hello to all out there.
I was just looking over this thread and can't believe it's been over a year since I first posted on this thread,(26/07/2010). Time has just flown.
My debt free year is currently at 15/08/17 so this isn't so bad. I just need to get rid of my car which is on HP and this will help considerably.
Keep up the good work people, we can do it!
Indeed it is Mrs A.
If car's on HP can't you just surrender it?

I can do a VT once I've paid off half which will be December. Ideally I need to pay it by the end of November because the tax is due then, don't know if I will be able to though.DMP member no 390

Hello everyone. I am on DMP with CCCS for 20 months. It has changed my life. However, today i looked at a letter from halifax. I pay them £106.37 per month but they charge me 89.47 every month interest. they say this is a reduced rate of 1% per month and that it is the best they can do. At this rate it will take 45 years to pay off the debt. I will be dead before then. this seems stupid. is there anything i can do? other debts are not charging interest at all. Thank you in advance.
Hi nolnoc
That's absolutely crazy! My maths isn't great but I make it out to be 84% of your payment is going towards interest. (Although I have heard on this site of people whose repayments don't even cover the interest added on to their account, which must be pretty soul destroying).
I would use the debt template letter 'When a creditor refuses to freeze interest on your account' on the National Debtline website (link below for England & Wales as I see you're in Birmingham) to ask them to freeze the interest, or at least lower it.
Creditors aren't obliged to freeze/lower interest but they shouldn't apply excessive charges, so I would also quote sections 224 and 225 of the Lending Code (see link below, it's page 34) which I presume Halifax would have signed up to, being one of the high street banks.
In your letter it might be also worth threatening to make a complaint to the financial ombudsman (link also below!) so they know you are aware of your rights, just to see if that works.
Let us know how you get on. Good luck!

Hi,
Im getting my DMP processed with CCCS, but they've asked for afew details I forgot to put in. Its tricky for me to get away from work to ring them during the day - and im sure there was a email address for the processing(New) department. Do anyone know the email address so I could email them tonight and get it all done and dusted?!
Many thanks!!!:cool:0 -

There's a contact us button on the home page. Just make sure you quote your reference number. Good luck with your start up.
