  • HI guys - hope everyone has a lovely long weekend free from harassment (as if :p)

I came back from a lovely visit to see my new niece (too cute) to a car insurance renewal that is more than double last years  Have managed to find a slightly cheaper quote - but still a few hundred higher than last year, I feel these insurance companies are taking the !!!! - especially as this one wants 2 months up front - money I really don't have.

Sigh, I knew it was going too well. :(

Could it be wine o'clock?

Hi CTC, yes it is wine o'clock, just getting a lovely glass from a bottle that was a present (how much more do we appreciate pressies whilst on a DMP?) Speaking of car insurance, it sounds as if you are having the same experience as us here in NI. Try putting in a postcode that starts BT... in to any of the search engines, and if they accept you in the first place, the quote is crazy. Perhaps over here the insurance companies are still quoting as if the troubles were as bad as ever, their prices certainly haven't come down at all.

What an inspiration you are one of the very few people I have encountered on this forum who have achieved the end goal. Well done. I have many years to go but its nice to read that people do complete DMPs.

You should write of the forum about your experiences so we know what is ahead.

    Thanks for the inspiration.

    Hurrah and congratulations!!!

One question though, what will you do? I sorta think when I'm finally free of debt what I'll do with myself. Do a jig, buy a bottle of bubbly, cry?

I sorta think it'd be like if you finished a marathon for real. Just that relief and satisfaction of finishing the journey...

Love it! :) I hope I've got the stamina because mine's a marathon. Going now because my fridge 'died' yesterday, and I'm hoping some kind soul on Freecycle wants to let their old one go to a kind and loving home. (It doesn't need to have a champagne rack or space for caviar :rotfl:)

    Hi all,

Just noticed this thread, I'm not in a huge amount of debt, but enough to make sure I have no money at the end of the month even after robbing Peter to pay Paul!! I have spoken to CCCS this morning and they are sending me out a the relevant paperwork to start a DMP. I just wondered what to expect really. How many bank statements do they ask for, and what proof of debts? I just want to get it filled out and sent back as soon as possible and want to get everything ready to send off.

    Many thanks in advance Emma:)

Welcome Emma, not sure on CCCS, but I guess they should ask for your latest statements from all of your creditors. Do you have an Overdraft that needs adding to the DMP, or have a creditor that is linked to your bank? If so then you'll need to setup a 'safe' account with a bank to whom you have no links.

Other than that, expect phonecalls from creditors, defaults etc. It sounds bad but it's all part of the process!

Hopefully someone'll be along to provide more experiences, but in the meantime have a look through the previous pages, and you'll get an idea of what's involved. :)
