I would think they will be used to this scenario, the other thing I would be wary of is be realistic with your monthly expenses such as groceries. I notice on here when people are asked to put their SOA up the comments are usually to shave things to the bone. A DMP is a lengthy process and you will need money to live to a reasonable standard through the month otherwise the DMP will be very difficult. There is a sheet available that lists what are reasonable expenses. I have to go out now but will find the link for you when I come back.
Ohh that's news for me. Where can we access this sheet please?

My first payment has gone to CCCS on Saturday but I am a bit worried about what to do with a few creditors.
I haven't heard from Mint, Tescos, NRAM but MBNA have accepted. My next payment to them isn't due until
I was due to pay my two Barclaycard cards on 28th April and 3rd May, I thought about trying to pay the minimum so I didn't get a missed payment (stupid I know) but when I logged on to their accounts there was no option to pay the minimum payment and it appeared as if it wasn't even due - does that mean they have accepted?
I am due to pay the minimum payment on 12th May to Santander for £123, my DMP payment of £158 is due to go to them when CCCS send it on 28th - I am worried about a load of phone calls and wonder if I should pay a token payment to BC and Santander until the full one goes or should I do nothing at all?
Any advice anyone??
I agree with Ian. Extra tokens at this stage will not make any difference. Expect some noise initially, it will settle. Come moan here if you need to.

I was just wondering if anyone has any experience of switching from a fee charging DMP to a self-administered DMP?
My girlfriend is currently paying around £130pm to a company which takes a £35 fee..this is obviously a ridiculous waste of money especially as her total debt is around £5000 (to make matters worse her payments regularly reach one of her creditors late and she is often charged a late payment fees of £12).
So she is considering doing her own DMP but is scared about what her creditors reaction will be and about them hassling her. To my mind it should be to their benefit as they will be receiving more of the £130 each month because there will be no fee, but in reality I don't know if this will be the case.
Should she just set up standing orders to each creditor and send them her monthly budget and a letter explaining that she will be managing her own DMP in future? Any advice would be appreciated.
Hi
As you're demonstrating to them they will get more money it has to be on your favour. You may get some initial noise just because the computer notices a change, it will settle!
Good Luck

Ok so a few updates,
made some phone calls this morning, and in between had one credtior call me after money (:o) So....
ALL my catalogues have agreed to 0% interest and to stop charges, so long as the CCCS get the letters sent out to them. (3 creditors)
Capital One has stopped interest
Vanquis x 2 has stopped interest
Santander CC has agreed to stop interest IF letter is sent out from CCCS this month.
Barclaycard has reduced interest to 6% (will write letter in a month or so to see if we can reduce this more)
Barclays O/D and Loan have both defaulted meboooooo (think they are passing the debt on)
We paid the HSBC & Santander O/D off already so we are 2 creditors less....also we had to add the tax bill on, but they have stopped interest also.
So we've called the CCCS and asked for more letters to be sent out, they said they would...so I will call the creditors next week to see if they have received them. They have also been paying, in error, money to the santander O/D that we have paid, closed the account ,....so we need to go to town and see what is happening there because that money could be getting our other debts down!
So pretty positive...just a case of waiting around now to see what happens!
Has anyone else had problems with the CCCS not sending out letters at the beginnning of a DMP....or could this be a case of the letters getting mislaid at the other end (creditors end) ...because of this I have several defaults & lots of extra charges now!
Thanks for everyone's kind words on here though I really was flapping about this the other day and you all put my mind at ease, so nice to come on here and see that other people are/have been through the same

Wow, well done!
How I see it no one is going to fight your corner better than you so don't just rely on CCCS.

Hello from a very, very nervous newbie
I have just started a DMP with Payplan as i have tried for the last 7 months to manage arrangements with my creditors on my own and it's just become too much for me.
Part of me feels like a weight has been lifted but i'm just petrified it won't work out, especially as i had a total earbashing from Mackenzie Hall today that left me in tears
Any words of wisdom would be fantastic.
ThanksI'm going to be a Mummy eeekkk - Baby PXE is due in October :happyhear0 -
It will work out - it can't do anything else. They can't take money from you that you don't have. Honestly. Just hang in there, hold your nerve, and don't let anyone bully you. Nobody, especially Mackenzie Hall should be harassing you to the point that you are in tears. You're trying to sort things out - you are taking responsibility and you should feel proud of yourself. I promise that you'll wake up one day soon and feel that weight is gone from your shoulders. There are more important things in life to pay attention to - let Payplan do the leg work, you make the regular payments, keep up your end of the bargain and get on with your life. Don't spend it hiding, life is for living. I'm still in the first phases of my plan - haven't even heard back from the debtline yet, but have suspended payments, filled out all the forms, made the phonecalls. Panicked, big time. I don't think I can panic anymore now, so I've entered a zen-like peace about it. Hope you can get there too. Look how many people on this forum are on DMP's, it must work.
Not really words of wisdom, but I hate the idea of people being bullied and I hope you are feeling a bit better now.

I agree with you HH. CCCS are brilliant but it's your money, your debt, so be pro-active with your creditors.
debtfreewannabe321 - Often creditors will state letters are received in the 'wrong' office, by the 'wrong person', 'not received' or received 'too late.' This is usual at the start of a DMP. Just send 'em again recorded (so you have proof)

Hello and welcome to you,
There are templates letters you can send if creditors try to act the 'heavy' on you. If you don't feel confident enough to deal with phone calls, you can ask for communication in writing only (but some are a bit naughty at first about honouring this)
Your creditors are worried they are not going to get ANY money back when things initially go bottom-up, but once they start getting their regular (but reduced) payments it tends to settle.

Love it!I hope I've got the stamina because mine's a marathon. Going now because my fridge 'died' yesterday, and I'm hoping some kind soul on Freecycle wants to let their old one go to a kind and loving home. (It doesn't need to have a champagne rack or space for caviar :rotfl:)
