Mikon - I am still getting monthly statements from Opus - (Citi then Opus are one of the good guys on our DMP with CCCS - no interest since nearly the beginning - last July - but no default yet, and still advising that there is an amount available to spend!!)0

Hello everyone,
Well I've finally done it, I've signed up and posted off the direct debit and all info to CCCS
I've been dragging my heels about doing this but the longer I have been leaving it the more debt I have been building
I have also printed out the template letter provided by CCCS to send to all my creditors and have included a cheque each as a token payment.
What I am dreading most it the phone calls and letters demanding more payment! :embarasse How long will this go on for? What if they start becomning nasty? Can these people turn up at my work place??
Also, I'd like to know how many of you on a DMP have managed to save whilst on one? How did you budget it and plan for it? If you're saving on the side would the creditors know?
Sorry for all the questions....really appreciate all advice

Bit of advice to all new comers - get a cup of tea/coffee/beer/wine and sit down and search through this forum, many of the basics (ie what happens, how long, baliffs, home visits etc etc....) can be found in a great deal of depth within the various posts.
It will help you get a much bigger picture and if you still have questions please keep them coming - its hard at the beginning to see past the panic but there is a pattern (mostly) and there is light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck all:beer::T

Well done for not dragging your heels any more, I'm not an expert on CCCS but with any DMP at last you will have creditor phone numbers, your CCCS number, to pass on to anyone who calls. That, for me, was my biggest strength, you are not on your own. Paying your token payments also shows that you are serious about this, and haven't disappeared off the face of the Earth either.
Honestly, it's probably too early to think about saving at the moment, just keep any free funds to one side for now. One of the things I've learned here is that you never know what's round the corner! In my case it's been a tumble dryer trying to burn my house down, or washing machines that flood instead (at least that would have put the fire out), all the same it's a learning process that you become adaptable at managing. I would hope anyone here would agree that this experience really challenges us sometimes, but you get through it somehow.
Welcome to our merry band!

Think I will write to them and request monthly statements. I had a bit of trouble with them in the beginning when they were CITI but then they stopped interest and everything has been going fine. Just have not received statements since OPUS took over.
jcorbygas could you send me their address either post it on here or send me a private message I would much appreciate it.
ThanksMikon Riding the DMP Rollercoaster full of ups and downs but i will get to the end. :T:j

Hi - I would really appreciate any advice, I commenced my DMP in January 2010 and have to date paid around £3000 off my debts (£10,000) to go. I had a couple of shaky moments at the beginning of my DMP, but quickly got back on track again. However, I pay by funds transfer and am due to make a payment of on 10 May. I have had quite a few unforeseen circumstances this month and am struggling to get this months amount together. Does anyone know if my DMP will be stopped if I fail to pay the full amount?LBM - August 2009:eek: DMP started - Jan 2010:o

Hi
Sorry to hear about the hiccup. Who is your DMP provider? Suggest you call them as better to have them on your side so both you and they can explain to creditors and whether you expect it to be back to normal by next month. Worth doing a review too to make sure you have everything accounted for and the budget is set at the right level. We all have things that catch us out but fingers crossed we can help each other with forward planning.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.
