Thanks so much HH
you have just made me feel a ton more positive about stuff. I know its a long haul thing, and OH keeps telling me to hang in there and that things dont happen overnight.
I just get frustrated with places like Helliifax...its as if they don't want people to help themselves. We can't defualt you it will affect your credit rating...Ha-ha
Thanks for the congrats - I truly can't wait. I just get worried people will judge me for getting married on a DMP
Thanks again

Well do excuse me! Getting married on £100? Was going to read to the end of the messages before I replied but can't wait.
The cost of the 'average' wedding is somewhere around £20,000 I believe. What a waste of money
Congratulations and good luck to you. Have a wonderful day, and remember it's about your vows to each other - not about how many bridesmaids you have or do the flowers match the colour of your eyes? :rotfl:
I went to a friend's wedding a few years ago - dress from Oxfam, drinks in the pub after - a lovely day, full of warmth and good cheer.
A DMP is a lifestyle not a life sentance - you still have the right to live. If you apply as much sense to your debts as you do your wedding you're well on the way!

Congratulations on your wedding Sammylou and as others have said, you do still have a right to live, getting married included. My wedding cost £350 12 years ago and at the time was the happiest most special day of my life, there is no need for pomp and ceremonyDMP Mutual Support Thread Member 416

Thanks Everyone.
The wedding itself cost £100, Register office and drinks afterwards in a bar (everyone to buy thier own...lol) Everything else came from EBay - its not what it costs, its the day thats important. I just think everyone just assumes you have spent the earth on it...
No honeymoon, no money - but I dont want to go away anyway - would rather spend time in my lovely garden with my husband and our animalsxx :T

Hello all
Just a quick one received a letter from scm solicitor obo LLoyds tsb, felt a little be freaked out by this letter as it said that it was a "formal demand prior to commencement of legal proceedings" so I was feeling brave and rang them and a nice lady told me it was a standard letter just to inform me that a default has now been issued to my account and told me to expect one more letter and just keep paying on my DMP and thats fine.
Feel a lot better after making the phone call.

Well done for having the courage!
As Ian often says, a phone call can save a whole lot of misunderstandings and get you straight to the point.
I'm a coward (just in case bully-boy tactics are employed) and prefer to write.....

I got some glasses through a work scheme. Paid the £25.00 for them and sent the form to get it is reimbursed. Wondered why it was taking so long, so asked today. Told it was paid into my bank account on the 27th. Not my bank account I replied, reply back had my old HSBC numbers that I have not used for 14 months. It appears the HR department who have the new account details for paying my wages into don't/can't pass this info to our Finance department. There was nothing asking where I wanted the money paid to on the form I filled in and obviously the last time I used the system it had my old details, at no time during the form filling did I see that info. Neither department seem to want to help and I don't want to contact HSBC. I also don't see why I should need to explain why I don't want to contact HSBC. Anyone got a suggestion how I get my money back without telling them about my situation? :mad:Paddle No 21 :wave:0

Hello everyone,
Sorry not to have been around, there hasn't really been much happening! Payments going out each month, all very quiet, which is a good thing. Anyway, like Heydelboy, I've had one of these e-mails from Cabot asking for a review (checked balance and it's fine, all tallies). They've asked me to phone them but I'd really rather not deal with them by phone so what is the best way to go about it, ask Payplan to send them a new SOA? Also, the wording is this -
"Account reviewThank you for maintaining your repayment. As agreed, your repayment arrangement is now due for review.Contacting CabotThe most important thing for you to do now is to get in touch with us, as we may be able to offer you a special discount on your account. Call one of our helpful customer advisors on 0800 328 0708 (Minicom: 01732 524630).Our aim is to help customers get their accounts cleared – so do contact us soon!"
Does this look like they might be open to an offer? I made them one back in October and was ignored!
EDIT: Have been browsing around since and see that Barclays are taking over Egg accounts (as mine was), which may have something to do with it . . .
Best wishes, YP x

I had this issue with a christmas advance. Luckily I realised I should check and found the same. The account your salary gets paid into is different to the one that 'Finance Dept' BACs payments get paid into.
I will say that you won't get that cash back, and to treat it as paying a bit more of that debt off.
If that account is defo closed tho, will be worth checking where it's gone.DMP mutual support thread No: 2430
