Haven't been on in a while, unfortunately life took over!
My gorgeous 2 year old dog died unexpectedly, just found him dead one morningI was (and still am) absolutely gutted. I've had flu for 2 weeks and its now spread through the house!
Still I am now back in the land of the living!
Mikon - I know exactly how you are feeling, both myself and DH work in local government so everything is being cut but the cost of living still carries on rising. Every week my DH comes home with more news of pay cuts, overtime cuts, enforced 12 days unpaid leave a year!
Its just one long nightmare.
We did receive our 1st CCCS statement yesterday though and although the amount was horrible to see in black and white, at least it had gone down a fraction!
Hope everyone else is doing okay and looking forward to the weekend!
That is really sad news. Our adopted dogs are everything to us now our son has left home. That must have been so upsetting amongst everything else. At least our animals don't care what we have as long as they are fed, watered, and most importantly, loved. Your lovely two year old was all these, and more, probably.
Thank goodness your amount is going down, it's so hard to see in the early stages, but you are moving forward, at least!

We are finding the DMP really hard as we'd been 'supplementing' our household income with credit for so long. I have sold pretty much everything I can on ebay, emptied all our penny jars etc. We're going away this month so there will be extra costs for that so we're trying to live on what we've got in the cupboards for the next few weeks.
Anyhow, we're pretty much 6 months in now. The payments are going smoothly, a couple of creditors are being irritating but they're just not bothering us - we're being honest about what we've got and everyone is getting as much as we can afford. CCCS has been great to deal with and very supportive.
I have to say that while it is difficult to manage, it is a good thing we're being forced too as we've never had to budget before, and being on the DMP is so very much less stressful than the chaotic situation we'd been in for a long time.

Hi all,
a bit of advice please, does anyone know how long you should leave from set up to asking creditors to stop interest on debts.
Several of mine, well 5 out of 6 havn't yet, one did for 1 month! Am I likely to aggrevate them by asking again only 3 payments in?
Any advice gratefully accepted!

Go for it Kate, they won't just do it. You are in a good position. Remind them you are 3 months in.
Good luck x0 -
I feel like I'm kidding myself. Sat tonight and sorted out a folder of debts with up to date statements now the DMP has started. Now I just feel like I'm sat waiting but for what I don't know? Maybe they'll all reject the payments and I'll be back to robbing Peter to pay Paul.
Will CCCS negotiate the stopping of interest or will that fall to me. Three weeks ago I was terrified of talking to creditors but now I feel that maybe I could deal with it.
My mum has given me Microsoft Money and I have budgeted to death. I have quite literally run out of things to budget for.
What do I do now, tap my fingers and wait??0 -
Morning all, apologies for not being about for a week or so, Im still dealing with the fall out from my husband leaving.
I have been contacted by Payplan and have sent my letter of authority off, an agreed date of 1st May has been arranged for the 1st DMP payment.
Lloyds TSB are sending me nasty letters re my loan threatening legal action despite me writing to them, and are continuing to take payments like £15 LOAN PAYMENT out of my unused and already overdrawn bank acc.DMP Mutual Support Thread Member 416

Morning Money
Sending hugs over.
Was it to be a joint DMP?
Re Lloyds, are they extending past your overdraft.

Morning everyone
I've not been round much either at the moment, been busy in work and things were all quiet on the DMP front for a while.
We're now 2 payments in and have heard from most of our creditors. To begin with it was pretty bleak, had a refusal of our offer, a few defaults and none really agreed to stop interest. I got my DMP folder out yesterday and was surprised by it actually looking pretty good. Here's the rundown:
MBNA - Accepted but haven't stopped interest. They have however reduced it to 3.6% which is quite low.
HSBC Credit Card - Accepted but wouldn't stop interest. I wrote a letter asking them to reconsider the interest but they again said no, interest is in their T&C's and they will continue to charge. Then my statement for March has 'NO INTEREST CHARGED' written across it in big letters... so who knows :rotfl:
Halifax - Initially refused. I wrote back asking them to reconsider and they agreed to the payment but not to stop interest. Then received my statement for March and there's no interest and none considered for Aprill. So again, looks like they might have stopped it.
Egg - Heard nothing from them until yesterday when they said they will accept the payment and stop interest :T
Santander & Tesco (these were loans) - both accepted straight away :T
Tesco Credit Card - Accepted and stopped interest
Capital One - Accepted but didn't state if they were going to stop interest, but my March's statement shows no interest added.
HFC - Heard nothing from these at all and they keep sending me letters, however my March's statement shows no interest so I'm guessing they've accepted. They do like to keep you on your toes doen't they :rotfl:
Next - Heard nothing from them at all. Tried logging into my account online and there's no statements been generated since February so they're definitely doing something with my account.
HSBC Overdrafts - These haven't acknowledged our offer and are still applying charges. I'm going to be sending them a letter in the next few days to remind them to contact the CCCS.
So overall not too bad. I checked a few balances from statements against my CCCS statement yesterday and I now owe more on most of my debts . After reading this thread I expected that to happen because of all the charges and default sums initially applied to my accounts when I paid the token payments. I'm going to give it a few more months to settle down and then update all my balances with the CCCS. I think it would be too depressing at the moment for me to see my DFD go further into the future
Hope you're all well today x0 -

No, It was just me going onto the DMP.
Lloyds are basically debiting money out that has taken me way over my overdraft and are charging me £5 a day for the pleasure:mad:DMP Mutual Support Thread Member 416
