  • Hi,

I've just been asked for a review by Cabot for the egg card they took over.

I've checked the balances and there is a discrepancy of £337.91 on the total fee owing to them.

I feel I should query it as it's a lot of money I don't have.

    Thanks
  • Well I've gone and done it, received my wage slip, up to date credit card and loan statements and I posted my DMP agreement to CCCS today. Think I have been putting it off a little, but finally sorted out transferring the Bank Account today so the job's done

Would it be wrong of me to delete all telephone numbers off my credit card accounts as whilst I will ring them if absolutely necessary, I would rather they are not calling me - is that very evasive??

So this is a new start now, I have managed for the last three weeks with a debit card and nothing else and it has actually felt refreshing knowing I am spending money that is not on a negative balance. I am also really thinking before I spend anything and this is new territory for me.

Me and Mr T are still having our ups and downs, he is fine one day and then very difficult the next - we might both feel better now the agreement has been sent off.

So the ride starts here, hope it's not too rocky.....

    Great news. Congratulations.

Personally I'd delete numbers. There's no one right way, pot luck comes into it sometimes. Therefore do whatever gives you the least stress is my advice.

Hi. Where are you checking the balances?

  • Hi there not posted for a while, I've received lots of letters stating that i missed a payment, because of the dates they were due and when i last paid the token payment & when the CCCS first paid them :( so this means they have all charged me £12 + on admin /late fee charges. Only one creditor has stopped interest & charges everyone else i've either not heard from but have received the statements with interest the same + charges or default letters :( feeling kind of down about this really as our debt has gone up now (by well over 150+) just because of one month's 'missed' payments. I was hoping i would hear back from more than 1 creditor concerning the letters i sent?!Have many of you experienced the same? No communication and they just carry on charging interest + fees regardless....we were struggling to make min. payments without the CCCS's help. We are now paying them less than what we were originally paying each month and if we are being charged interest still i just don't see how the debt will ever reduce??? Sorry bit of a rambling post but i'm at a loss as what to do? Our main creditors (one we owe most money to) is barclays, we have between dh and me a credit card, overdraft & loan with them. Then the others are santander O/D, vanquis cc x2(these have stopped interest) Aqua cc, Virgin cc and the rest are catalogues....these are the worst culprits!! Sending me daily emails, letters to encourage me to spend more money with them!!! I've just sent them a SOA & letter asking that the accounts be closed and we pay them bk? what the h*ll?? I think dept's in companies need to talk more!

Anyway rant over, if anyone has any advice pls share! thanks & good luck to those just starting on the DMP route x

  • Hi HH,

    Thanks for your reply!

I checked the current CCCS amount with the email letter I received from Cabot. Cabot never disclosed a balance or any statements at all stating what I'd be expecting to pay, they just said as long as I keep paying the CCCS all will be fine. They want a review now, I have no problems with that but the difference in balance worries me as if they are applying interest then my end date of the DMP will not come when I think and I'll be left with an awful amount in interest still to pay.

    Thanks,

You need to keep your own balances so I'd suggest you trace back to the start of your dmp. CCCs make an assumption that interest will be stopped and so it's only an estimated balance on there and will clearly be wrong if you had still been applied interest to it. You or the creditors can access the site and make changes to the balance recorded. This is why I maintain my own records too. CCCS only resolve the balance issue when your DMP is about to end. The Creditors are legally obliged to give you a statement more than just a balance each year but it would be difficult for them to refuse a full breakdown for you too so ask away.

    Hope you get it sorted.

It will take a few months to settle down. What you are experiencing is normal. My balance went up by 2.5%. It will soon start to come down. Keep in there.

  • Can anyone give me some ideas of what to expect with the final payment of a DMP, it's a way off.

Also, I have £15k outstanding, would creditors accept monies if I had say £8k to split?

I still receive letters from creditors/DCAs saying they haven't received payment. A quick phonecall normally reveals that it's an automated letter and that they've received payment a day or two late.

As HH says, expect the initial balance to go up at the beginning.

I still fully intend, every few months, to check that all my creditors are receiving their payments via Payplan. I'm very wary at the moment- especially after getting stung so badly by DCM Money Solutions. A call to each of them will certainly keep me on top of things.
