  • Thanks HH, didn't think it would make a difference just can't think straight at the moment.

We've all been there and sometimes still are from time to time. We'll get there together!

    Morning

Just received a default for one of the small credit cards, do I need to notify CCCS?

Wouldn't worry over much. I regularly get this from MBNA as payments may get to them on the 21st one month & 24th the next. This because its more than a month between payments the system automatically sends a letter.

Thank you HH its a relief to get things started, its gonna be a long road i worry about if i will ever be able to get a mortgage when this is finished but i guess i should just focus on sticking to the plan and becoming debt free !!

As you say it's a long road and for now look to clearing your debts.
If you are defaulted, the 'black mark' on your credit file lasts for 6 years from the start date.
But don't worry about a mortgage now. The offers and rates change daily especially in the uncertain financial time we are going through, so I would concentrate on getting yourself debt free first.
Then do your research and I'm sure one day you'll be a proud home (and mortgage) owner :)

  • Hi Guys,
Well, we now have our current account and hubbys business account set up with Barclays Bank, so feeling a bit happier now...

I have sent letters advising all our creditors (11 of them, lloyds x 3, abbey x3, MBNA x 3, cap 1 x 1, Halifax x 1, ) adviseing them we are seeking debt advise and included a token payment of £10, in this letter i asked htem to reduce interest and to date no one has replyed :(

We have had a few phone calls asking for payment.

I am doing a self administered DMP, as my hubby is self employed courier, I am hoping we will be able to pay more off, when he has a good month.

Now i need to send letters with our income & expediture to each of them and our offer or payment.

Feel we can do this :) 57 grand debt mountain, we can climb it :T

Well, yesterday I received yet another default notice from Sainsburys as well as a letter informing me that they had decreased my credit limit! More out of sheer annoyance than anything, I called them and they basically told me that they don't stop interest for anyone. Their idea of reduced interest is to let you pay off £12 of the £50 odd you pay them.
Payplan have speedily responded, as usual, and said that because I'm not that far in arrears, they are unlikely to pass the debt over to a collections agency, who would stop interest. So there it is.
    And it's bl@@dy raining!

    Chin up chuck!
One day all this will be history and you will be able to bore everyone left, right and centre about the days you used to live on a lettuce leaf and petrol only cost £50 a litre :D
And just how many default notices can a girl collect? Are these the new fashion 'must-have' for you instead of handbags? :rotfl:

I'm in the process of sorting out my DMP and am also in arrears with Next. They called and left a message the other day saying to phone so I did yesterday.

The woman was really nice. Wish all call centres were like her. She just took my DMP reference no. said they wouldn't contact again and would wait to hear from CCCS.

Lloydtsb on the other hand are doing my head in.

They have taken a charge from my account (which quite clearly has no money) because I cancelled the DD for the loan so now I'm overdrawn which means another charge for that :wall: . Can really see this being a vicious circle with them and their charges. A pain as Lloyds are 4 out of 6 of our unsecured debts.

So in amongst all the letters they have sent r.e cancelled DD's and missed payment on credit card they sent my OH a letter to apply for a loan :rotfl: .

Thank god OH and my wages are now going in to our new account.

I've just sorted out postal orders for my token payments but I'm a bit confused about what to do for the Lloydstsb overdraft.

I phone Lloyds and the woman said I send it to my branch with the postal order in my name. Is this right??

    Stelly xx

lloyds tsb did the same to me, transferred out an amount to cover the loan repayment, even though no money was in there:mad:

You've done really well so far.
It's a brave thing to start out on a self-administered DMP. I would have pooped myself beginning a DMP if it was 'DIY' :o

    General advice -
1)Some creditors will reply and outline terms. Some you won't hear from.
2)Be brave with the phone calls. State you are in financial difficulties and don't let them press you into paying more than you can afford.
    3) Expect your total debt to rise at the beginning - it all takes a while to settle
    4) Just keep proving your commitment to clear the debt by maintaining your payments every month
    5) Stick with us here for help and support!

  • Good Morning, well it's raining here, going to have a pretty quiet day, take some flowers to parents in law's grave, see my parents and cook toad in the hole...need to get a few things from Mr T's but will be straight in and out and try not to deviate from the list..
  • Thanks for that Twitty, yes i am a bit  about my DIY DMP, but at least we are facing it now, and being honest with ourselves :o

Yesterday i went shopping with £75 and some change, my bill came to £75.92  I nearly pooped myself as i knew the change i had was no where near 92p, but then i remembered i had to pay £1 for parking so had that refund voucher... phew!!
I never really had very much in the trolley (compared to shopping before xmas), but goes to show how much shopping has gone up

Anyway, today for the first time in ages we werent awakened by my boisterous 5 yr old son at the crack of dawn, no today the phone rang at 8.00am.... i ran to answer thinking something was terribly wrong, sunday morning, 8am???........and it had rung off by the time i got there.....dialed 1471, and it was an 0845 number.... so i think that was a 'show me your money' call :rotfl:booooo!!!!

Anway, up and at em, its raining here today, so not going out the house, baking some cakes with my son, gonna spring clean, iron uniforms etc, and this afternoon update my DIY DMP book.

Have a good day everyone :T
