    Hi All,

Just thought I'd say hi to all and do a little update. I usually do this every month but since the beginning of the year life has been a little hectic, not in a bad way but just busy, busy, busy.

Had a week off from work so have had the opportunity to get up to date with all the money stuff and phone around a few creditors who I don't get statements from just to get updated figures.

As always I have written another letter to Halifax advising them that I am still on a DMP and in financial difficulties and they are not helping:eek: I tried to explain in a nice way that it is not my fault I am making above minimum payments, its just the way the CCCS calulate things and I wished I had a nice friendly government who would give me a huge loan to help me become financially stable again! Expect another letter back saying they recognise my financial difficulties but will continue to charge, there is definitly no harm in trying:)

I also got in touch with Barclays regarding my old bank account (I still bank with them but using the basic account because of the agreement they have with CCCS) as they do not send statements and the last letter I got was my termination notice saying that they were going to be charging a certain amount each day. It was actually nice to speak to them yesterday as the lady was very nice in recoveries she confirmed no interest was being charged and it would stay with them unless I got into any more difficulty, she asked if I have had a review recently with CCCS and I confirmed this was done in September so all was good.

For thos who decide not to speak to your creditors once you have the courage try and do it, it really can makea difference. Just be polite but assertive and make sure you have all the details to hand.

Well, as you can see from my signature I am now 1/4 paid and hoping to increase my payment again in May after some family debt is paid. CCCS have said they will do another review for this just because the cost of living is going up to make sure I am not overstretching myself. This is fine becuase my biggest expense is always going to be petrol due to my drive to work and this has definitly gone up:eek: I have managed to keep this to a minimum by doing a bit of car sharing though so hopefully yhe review will show I can make yet another increase and that DFD will draw ever close.

Have a lovely day all and sorry for the waffle

One day all this will be history and you will be able to bore everyone left, right and centre about the days you used to live on a lettuce leaf and petrol only cost £50 a litre :D
And just how many default notices can a girl collect? Are these the new fashion 'must-have' for you instead of handbags? :rotfl:

HaHa! Thanks, Twitty and HH, you always cheer me up!
Well, today is a new day and I've been collecting up all my seed packets, as our local supermarket has compost on offer, so will be sowing some flowers and herbs. And the sun is finally out!:T
I was thinking that if Lady Gaga can make a dress out of meat, I could make one with default notices. I have so many it would have a very long train...

    Have a good Sunday, everyone.

  • I have a question about people paying creditors above or near minimum monthly payments and thus not getting interest stopped. I am with Payplan and they pay mine pro-rata. Thus my smallest creditor only gets £3.33 a month for the same length of years as my biggest debt. Do CCCS calculate and pay people a different way? So I was curious about CCCS and why if paying near a minimum payment kick starts interest, pro-rata is not the answer for debts? Barclaycard have not stopped my interest but that just seems to be there quirk as my payment to them is not near the minimum I should be paying per month.

My CCCS DMP does/did pay that way. The exception is down to one particular creditor taking court action adding fees to the debt making it larger than others yet not getting the largest payment. As the court ruled the original payment was all that could be afforded.

Think interest may be frozen for the life of the DMP and if you have extra money to pay things off it should be paid out via Payplan or CCCS to avoid this.

Yes; CCCS work the same way, this is why I'm having problems with Tesco CC. The minimum payment is around £90 and CCCS have the payment set at £105 so I am covering the minimum, and Tesco are still adding interest. I think the interest is about £60 so is CC is not going down very quickly but it is going down.

  • I love this thread, since I joined I no longer feel alone and everyones stories give me hope that I CAN do this.

Im just waiting for my DMP to be set up, phoned Business Debtline and theyve confirmed paperwork has been received, so am just waiting for payplan to contact me.

    Off to work this afternoon.
Then tomorrow will be sending out the token payments to my creditors by postal order.

eg My £3.33 that Payplan are paying should be £13.00 as the minimum per month, the debt is for around £176, so I could probably pay this one off and that £3.33 would be spread to the other 3 people. But I don't think they would each get £1.11, I think the one I owed most to would get the higher amount and so on. If that is right, why are CCCS paying Tesco a higher rate per month than your minimum and thus making them not stop adding interest for you? Or am I not understanding how Payplan are paying off? With me I do need to send a letter to Barclaycard and ask them if they would stop interest, since they take £50 of the £157 I pay them a month. I could be £600 better off this past year if they had stopped. granted they have dropped the interest from what i was paying before the DMP so small mercys and all that ;-)

Thanks for that Twitty, yes i am a bit  about my DIY DMP, but at least we are facing it now, and being honest with ourselves :o

Yesterday i went shopping with £75 and some change, my bill came to £75.92  I nearly pooped myself as i knew the change i had was no where near 92p, but then i remembered i had to pay £1 for parking so had that refund voucher... phew!!
I never really had very much in the trolley (compared to shopping before xmas), but goes to show how much shopping has gone up

Anyway, today for the first time in ages we werent awakened by my boisterous 5 yr old son at the crack of dawn, no today the phone rang at 8.00am.... i ran to answer thinking something was terribly wrong, sunday morning, 8am???........and it had rung off by the time i got there.....dialed 1471, and it was an 0845 number.... so i think that was a 'show me your money' call :rotfl:booooo!!!!

Anway, up and at em, its raining here today, so not going out the house, baking some cakes with my son, gonna spring clean, iron uniforms etc, and this afternoon update my DIY DMP book.

Have a good day everyone :T

Hey - congratulations; you are now officially a money-saver 'Par Excellence!'
Quiet days are often the best. That's when you realise that even if you had endless pots of money it couldn't replace the love and 'doing' for your family. (But nevertheless a few quid in the bank would help ;))
Let us know how it pans out for you. We're all here to listen/help/celebrate if we can.

No apologies needed - there was no waffle!
WOW - I'm always so impressed by your organisation and commitment
Well done you for keeping a tight grip on everthing. :T But as you say - petrol costs are ruining many a DMP budget at the moment.
I drive 100 miles a week to work and at the moment my allowance is probably about half the expenditure (and that is on tiny car.) :(
Thank goodness I never had the money or the wish to own a Range-Rover :D

CCCS pay on the pro-rata scale too, so this is why tesco are getting what they get.

Tesco was one of the smaller debts I had and never had a problem paying it. It was the other 4 debts that pushed me into the DMP as I couldn't afford these.

The others all stopped interest either straight away or within a couple of months.

I think once you have agreed the DMP it is difficult to then offer to pay off one of the smaller ones, as the debts may look on that as favouritism.

I tried to pay off the smaller ones before entering the DMP and managed to pay 2 off but still have 2 that are less than £200 on the DMP.
