DMP Mutual Support Thread - Part 7

Hi all, Well after spending the last few months trying to sort our finance probs out myself my partner has faced up to it and today we went onto the CCCS website and inputted our details, now just waiting on them coming back to us with our DMP. All a bit scary but now feel like we are moving foward. I am going to do a credit check today as well just to make sure there is no other things lurking that I am not aware of.
Can anyone advise on what happens next as they said to wait to hear from them.MAY NSD's

To be fair Halifax have been one of my best creditors to deal with. I keep quiet as I seem to be in the minority!
We know it has has been said before Ian, there is no rhyme or reason to how creditors behave with each particular person/debt.
Some recent posts refer to difficulties with Barclaycard. I had a 0% interest deal with them before my finances imploded. They have been one of my best creditors - statements every month and no interest charged (so far!)

We also started back in Nov. Halifax has stopped the interest (for now, bit worried after reading your experience!), but Barclaycard are still charging some interest. It feels pointless writing to them tbh, as we've sent all the CCCS stuff four times now and still they don't acknowledge any contact. Sadly they make up a third of my OH's creditors.
There is a template letter somewhere around here for asking them to stop the %
Go to the National Debtline Website for a good selection of template letters (and sorrysee my comments to Ian re: my Barclaycard experience)
Don't let it feel pointless. Keep banging on the door till until it opens! It's still early days for you yet. Mostly creditors just need to see your commitment to repaying your debt - this can take time to settle down.

Me too! I've got a credit card, overdraft and loan amounting to 16k with them but so far they've frozen all interest and have defaulted me (which is better now than later) but I'm not expecting it to last forever given other peoples' experienceLBM: 22.12.2010 :j Self-managed DMP start 29.1.2011DMP Mutual Support Thread No: 4130 -

I do work long hours but that it ridiculous - the address should have flagged up that it was not my house and we are on the electoral roll anyway.
If you're still having problems, try this link for template letter.

We have a lot of debt to clear, and lots of creditors which is a bit scary. At the moment our DFD is likely to be July 2016, although I would like it to be much sooner!
Don't worry at this stage about your DFD. Be prepared for it to stretch to even longer initially, until things settle down
Your DFD is a very moveable target. It depends on interest charged, added fees etc at start up and during the course of your DMP.
I shall be 310 years old when I reach mine
Best to concentrate at the moment on watching your debt decrease each month.:D
And your projected DFD is only 5 years away -may seem like a lifetime now but it will pass more quickly than you think. If in the future you can pay extra into your DMP, then that longed for date will hopefuly soon be with you

Thanks Twitty, you've given me a kick up the !!!! to bother them a bit!
Halifax - I have an OD (5k), CC (2.5k) and the end of a loan (£750), each of them has been dealt with differently. But the OD has been handled really well, nicely and with courtesy and transparency. All % frozen straight away, they've accepted DMP (with tiny payments), gave me back some money that was paid into my (now) locked OD account, rather than keeping it. CC % frozen, everything set out well. Loan immediately given to DCA who, to be fair, have been perfectly easy to deal with and accepted DMP payments.0 -
Thanks Twitty, I will keep that link in case it is needed - hopefully it won't be. I know it seems a long time, but I'm determined to finally get it sorted so the worrying and living from payday to payday can stop.

Hi, everyone
Am trying to organise myself a bit and sort out paperwork this weekend, so I'm off to Staples a bit later. Still waiting to hear from most people but Santander have sent me a default notice on an OD of about £440.
Chin up, eh?
