I have only been on my DMP since October. But overstreched my self on my expenditure when initially setting up the plan. I contacted CCCS about this and they were quite happy to reduce as it would appear my expenditure still falls within their guidelines. However the creditors seem to be a bit unhappy about this, stating that they won't accept the new arrangement but will be happy to receive the payments I send them.

My main concern is my £2000 o/d with my previous bank who I have a feeling are going to obstuctive. They have told CCCS that they won't accept the plan due to my level of spending(as if i didn't know what had got me into this mess in the first place), the last 4 months have been pretty much hand to mouth.

Each year i propose to pay more into my plan to help reduce the debt/timescale of paying back, but am just getting a bit concerned. On top of all this Januarys payment wasn't collected by CCCS, some error when giving my new bank details to them.(Double paid this month!)

I am just rambling I know, but need to get it off my chest.

Finally has anyone had any dealing with energy companies whilst on their DMP. I have £360 outstanding with my previous supplier, EON, that has been included on my plan. They have rejected my proposal.

    Hi Scotty

After my 6 month review I reduced my DMP payment by 4% on the advice of CCCS. It kicked all sorts of mayhem off with the creditors but this has now settled again. I am expecting the same when my loan clears in August. It appears 'change' upsets the computer systems. My advice is therefore to keep the number of 'changes' to a minimum, try to do a number at once so see fixing this not collecting Jan payment, a budget review and a new start with the creditors in one change.

I think with all the bad press around energy prices EON will be keen to keep you onboard. If they are being unreasomable report them to the watchdog/ombudsman. Fuel poverty is a significant political concern at the moment so I bet if you bang the drum a bit they will sort it.

Not that many creditors say yes yes we want to help. We have to take the lack of court action etc as a postive sign and silent acceptance if you see what I mean.

Fingers crossed it will soon settle down, most seem to as long as you keep good records and regular touch with CCCS to show that you are being reasonable.

    Good luck.

  • Received my first letter yesterday after contacting all my creditors, from barclays concerning my loan- they are defaulting me on the account and closing it. I'm feeling quite deflated now, not heard from anyone else and really dreading receiving 12 more letters telling me the same thing. We have 2 other debts with barclays between my husband and I -Barclaycard & a huge overdraft (the biggest debt out of all of them) so these 3 debts alone equate to half our overall debt. If they all default what happens then? DO i need to go to court or will they just be passed on to a collections agency?? :(

    Hi DFW,

I'd honestly see them closing it as a positive. If you read back posts you will see that usually a significant step forward. Without meaning to sound rude what were you hoping for? (Just so we can help allay any potential misunderstandings)

People often have mutiple accounts with a particular creditor and find the creditor makes different judgements on them, bizarre!

Defaults just trash your credit record. They are legally obliged to register them but they don't neccesarily mean they go anywhere else and most don't.

As long as you are seen to be reasonable you will be ok. No flash spends!

What stage are you at with your DMP?

    Good luck

  • I also had phone calls from barclays loan and they were very nice saying they would stop phone calls for a month and let the CCCS contact them...and then i got a letter through saying no to the agreement. I hope your news is better :)

    Have a nice holiday :)

Try to keep in there. Meant to say in the last posts most DMPs take 3 -4 months to settle down.

    Hi HH

thank you for replying, I'm not entirely sure what i was expecting to be honest, maybe just a letter saying yes yes yes fine we'll accept terms and that would be that. (Hmmm bit naive maybe :o)

I haven't actually made my first payment yet, the first one goes out on the 1st march and so i have only got as far as writing to all creditors with token payments and i am supposing the CCCS have written also?? offering a SOA and payments? As i say it was my first letter back, was kind of hoping that the first one would be good news lol and the interest and charges would be stopped etc and that would be that. But if you say it's a positive thing them doing this then I suppose I shouldn't fret. My credit history is already trashed of my own doing, so i suppose one default isn't going to make it much worse! Thanks for replying x

  • Whereabouts on Justabank do I see if creditors have accepted the DMP? I'm due to send off my second payment to Payplan next week. It just tells me what has been paid to each creditor. I've had no letters from anyone! Just a couple of statements showing my token payment was received and that I'd failed to make minimum payment. The silence is deafening!
Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time

Hi everyone, I have only got up to page 25 so far and I know that there are lots of knowledgeable people on here so i'm hoping that someone can help :)

Hubby and I are in the process of setting up a DMP with CCCS and have 14 creditors with £39k debt between us. I've cancelled all direct debits and we have new accounts with banks not related to debts.

I'm a little bit confused now - sorry if I sound a bit stupid. My last pay to go into Halifax will be on 25th Feb and our mortgage is due to come out on the 1st March from the same account. All our payments with Halifax are up to date at the moment - but if I post my letters to CCCS and Halifax tomorrow will the account be frozen straight away? Or will they wait until we miss the payments to freeze our account? Just not sure whether to wait until next week to post or do it straight away as we are eager to get everything in order before baby number 1 is due next month.

For the letters to creditors... do I need to write why we are experiencing financial difficulties or just send the standard one from CCCS? I've read somewhere on here that you can sign the letters but then put wavy lines through it - is that recommended?

    Many thanks

Welcome, sounds like you are heading in the right direction. It will FEEL as though it is getting worse before it FEELS like you are moving forward. If you can face it start at the beginning of the thread and read through so you can see what to expect. It's important to manage expectations so that you don't feel totally crushed.

See how many landmarks have you passed already, LBM, CCCS application, written to creditors, heard back from one. It will be 1st March before you know it then after a first increase you will start to see the debt going down. We can all share in your relief as that happens. Well done you are off the starting block.

Keep shouting up if you have queries.

Sorry can't help with just a bank, I'm sure one of the payplanners will be along shortly to help out. I'm with CCCS and as far as I know we have no such feature. What I do know is that many creditors dont acually communicate yes or no! I would take the defeaning silence as a good sign, and long may it last!

Probably I'm not the best one to answer since I'm with CCCS, but I think you'll find the answer is 'nowhere'
You will hear back from some creditors, some maybe not for months. Some will accept and some not. (Be prepared for defaults on your credit record - but keep in mind this is not the end of the world as we know it :))
Just keep paying your agreed DMP payment each month, whatever response you get from your creditors.
Soon you'll see your totals start to drop!
