Had a very nice letter from MBNA just drop through my door saying they accept our DMP payment offer. They're not stopping interest altogether (boo!) but have reduced it to 3.6% per annum and will not add any charges to the account.
What a fab letter to get on a FridaySo far all we've had is demands for payment from our creditors.
I do have one question, do I need to tell the CCCS that MBNA have accepted the terms?
Good news Hales
You don't need to tell CCCS they just plod on regardless, it comes together towards the end of the plan.
Just a word of note, some people avoid the shocker letters on Saturdays!

Thanks HH
I'm so glad to get one acceptance, so far all we've had a silence from most, a few phone calls from 2 and letters from 2 asking us to bring our accounts up to date. I guess most of the letters are generated automatically, hopefully now the CCCS has written to them with our offer we will get a response from a person, rather than a computer.
Sounds daft but it really has made my day to get that letter. It feels like things are starting to come together after the last few stressful weeks of token payments, opening new accounts, changing DD's etc.
Good point with Saturdays post... might leave it to open on Monday :rotfl:

Well I start my plan in March, had a nice long chat with CCCS due to major confusion over my income - ah I love being self employed. But that has been sorted out and my plan starts on March 10th :j
Due to my needing to pay a tax bill first my currently length of plan is 40 years  but that drops dramatically once I've paid my tax bill off and that extra money goes to CCCS.
Amazingly I've only had nice calls and letters so far from creditors - I am in shock HSBC were lovely saying they understood and would hold all calls for a month to give CCCS a chance to contact them. Of course they may well change their tune when they see how little they are getting - at least at first - but tough. This is what's happening and they can deal with it :rotfl:
On a much happier note - ONE MORE SLEEP til my holiday begins
Lovely to have it all sorted with the CCCS before I leave will make me even more relaxed on my holiday
Have a lovely 2 weeks folks and thanks for your help over this last month - you've been incredibly helpful and I'm actually feeling optimistic and happy about my future now :T0 -

That's fantastic you're getting good calls, I've not had the guts to answer the phone yet. But think it will be my resolution for next week.
Have a great holiday :j0 -
We too have had letters from MBNA accepting our offer and reducing our interest rates to 0%!!!! Payplan is still showing them as having rejected our offer though....... should we let them know? Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

Doesn't sound daft at all. Celebrating the landmarks keeps me going

Welcome to all the new people who have taking the first steps to addressing their debt issues.
The number of people embarking on DMPs is increasing this is shown by the number of new users on this forum. It is a sign of the times I think.
Good Luck everyone.Mikon Riding the DMP Rollercoaster full of ups and downs but i will get to the end. :T:j

Its good to see the landmarks come & go, the first £1000 paid off the debt when it drops from £xx,001 to £xx,999.
Each one feels like a little victory

Indeedy, this year is going to be a busy year!
I was going through some of my old posts and found some for a thread regarding the legalisation of DMPs a year ago. I wonder what happened there. I'll investigate and find out!DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
We had our first DMP acceptance yesterday, a very nice letter from MBNA waiving all charges and reducing (not freezing) The interest to 3.6% per annum. Not as good as freezing it but better than nothing.
Do you think it's worth me writing a letter asking them to reconsider dropping the interest to 0%? Would thank them for being understanding, tell them we are committed to paying back our debt but if they were to drop the interest to 0% then that would enable us to do that quicker.
What's the general opinion of doing this? The offer the CCCS made them is about £70 below the contractual payment anyway (were paying £270 a month and the offer was for £202) so I think they're still getting a decent amount.
Look forward to hearing peoples thoughts x0
